Despite the countless shoots we have done at this desirable location, we never tire of shooting here. There is always a new spot to discover and, of course, new faces in front of the camera that bring new life to each session.

The two new faces we had the pleasure of capturing in this session belong to Kadeisha and Oshaine.  This lovely couple chose to wear both a classic and a more casual outfit to reflect their style.  And boy did these two have style! We just love the vibrant colors in their wardrobe choices.  More notably, the way they looked at each other produced the most uncontainable smiles that always make for awesome pictures!

Kadeisha and Oshaine booked our photography services early on in their wedding planning timeline.  Many couples choose to do this for several reasons.  For starters, there are only a limited number of weekends in a year and we tend to book quickly.  We offer full wedding coverage which means your wedding is the only one we will be shooting that day.  Hiring us early increases the chance that we are available for your date. Secondly, early booking locks in current prices and allows couples to take advantage of financing options.  Also, like Kadeisha and Oshaine, finding a wedding photographer that you feel comfortable with is key.  The best way to learn your compatibility is to take engagement portraits prior to your big day.  When done with time, these engagement photos can be used for numerous things such as Save-the-Date cards, sign-in books, or a beautiful canvas to display at your engagement party or bridal shower.  Lastly, booking your wedding photographer early is just one more item to check off your list of wedding To Do’s – and arguably one of the most important aspects!  Your wedding photos are, after all, the only thing you keep after the wedding is over (except for each other, of course!)

Please enjoy this collection of just a handful of our favorite images from Kadeisha and Oshaine’s engagement session!

Fairways On The Key Wedding - Crandon Park - Key Biscayne - Elizabeth + Kris http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/2/fairways-on-the-key-wedding---crandon-park---key-biscayne---elizabeth-kris We couldn’t have asked for a better couple and wedding to start off our new year with! This was the first wedding we shot in 2018 and we are thrilled to share it with you today. There are so many mini-events that occur during a wedding day – the getting ready, the ceremony, the reception, the send-off…. As wedding photographers, we are sure to capture it all - the big moments as well as all the little moments that happen in between.  We try to keep our blog as up to date as possible, giving you a glimpse of our style and how the wedding stories unfold.

Elizabeth and Kris are marvelous together and documenting them joining their two families was quite an honor for us. Here is a little break-down of their big day:

Getting Ready

Elizabeth got ready at her parent’s house in Miami.  There is something special about getting ready for your wedding day at home! Hanging her wedding gown and staging the rings, among other details, were all done in the comfort of her living room. In the other room, Elizabeth and her girls laughed and had a good time before it was time to get in her dress.  Mom assisted in buttoning up the gown as dad waited to catch a glimpse of his little girl before they drove off to the church in none other than a vintage fire truck! (Yes, dad is a firefighter)

Ceremony

Elizabeth and Kris were married at the beautiful Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  Sticking with tradition, he saw his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle with her father.  This is always a beautiful moment to capture!  The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s brother which made the ceremony extra personal and sweet.  A perfect way to tie the knot!

Reception

The reception took place at Fairways on the Key in Key Biscayne, FL.  Guests enjoyed cocktail hour as we snuck the bride and groom onto the golf course for their portrait photos.  When couples opt not to do a first-look, we are usually limited to the time between ceremony and dinner to take these important pictures.  This takes a little bit of planning but can yield stunning photos – especially when the reception location is as beautiful as theirs!  We had plenty of sunlight to work with before the night sky took over as a signal that it was time to party.

The reception space looked like a dream.  Orchestrated by the talents at Events by Gigi, it all set the stage for Elizabeth and Kris to dance the night away with their friends and family.  As an added bonus, Elizabeth and Kris treated their guests to our Photo Booth where their friends and family could strike a pose and take home a photo souvenir.  A good time was had by all!

The couple were sent away with a celebratory sparkler send off as they were wished a happily ever after. We hope you enjoy this blog and join us to wish them the same!

Wedding - Curtiss Mansion - St. Hugh Catholic Church - Sandra + Jerry http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/2/wedding-curtiss-mansion-st-hugh-catholic-church-sandra-jerry As far of romantic weddings go… this one takes the cake!  Every element of Sandra and Jerry’s day came together beautifully.  From their exciting first-look at the Trump National Doral to their traditional ceremony at St. Hugh Catholic Church to their picturesque reception at the historic Curtis Mansion – it was all so dreamy!

Sandra was the epitome of elegance in her gown adorned with delicate lace.  Every detail fit her to perfection.  Jerry looked quite dapper in his tailored tuxedo.  We were so happy that they chose to do a first-look because we just couldn’t wait to start taking pictures of the two of them together. That’s how good these two looked!  Once at the church, they were greeted with a full house of friends and family.  Located in Coconut Grove, St. Hugh is such a lovely church to get married at.  We shoot quite a few weddings there and we are always in awe at its beautiful architecture.

Guests were happy to meet the new Mr. and Mrs. at the enchanting Curtis Mansion.  Located in Miami Springs, this beautiful estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and truly offers the perfect setting for a romantic wedding.  We loved the stunning courtyard lit by bistro lighting.  The décor was on point – almost as sophisticated as the couple themselves.  Everything felt magical – but the true magic was apparent in the way Sandra and Jerry glanced at each other.  It was so obvious that they are madly in love!

This wedding was the last one that we shot in 2017 and was a perfect reminder as to why we do what we do.  There is no doubt that we love the art of photography – I think it’s fair to say that most photographers do!  However, it’s the moments that we capture that move us.  We feel a lot of pride in being able to deliver memories in photographs that will be cherished for generations to come.

Join us as we wish Sandra and Jerry a happily ever after!

Wedding at The Addison, Boca Raton, FL - Alyssa + Israel http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/12/wedding-at-the-addison-boca-raton-fl---alyssa-israel Alyssa and Israel are high school sweethearts that met when they were only 15 years old! Their story is a true love story that began at Coral Reef Senior High School and led them down the aisle this past weekend. Together, they are the definition of soulmates.  From the moment they met as kids, they had that connection that led to friendship and romance.  They have grown up together and motivated each other to be the amazing people they are today.  Their wedding day was years in the making and was such a beautiful beginning to the next chapter as husband and wife.  We feel so honored to have been there to capture those memories for them!

We met Alyssa and Israel back in January when they booked us for their engagement session and December wedding date.  December is among the most popular month’s to get married in South Florida so we encourage couples to book us as soon as they book their venue to ensure that we have their day available.  We only shoot one wedding per day and once we are booked we have to send the dreaded email stating that the day is no longer available.  It’s never really too soon to book us – we have already booked our first wedding for 2020! Luckily, we were available for Alyssa and Israel’s big day and what a lovely day it was!

They could not have chosen a more perfect day to say “I do”.  Their ceremony took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton followed by a gorgeous reception at The Addison.  It was a daytime wedding which was full of love, delicious food, and dancing – so much dancing!  A good time was had by all. Everything was spectacular – from the anticipation of seeing each other as they got ready early in the morning to the awesome bubble send off by their friends and family.  We hope that you enjoy this blog post as much as we enjoyed capturing every moment.  Congrats Alyssa and Israel!

Wedding at the Bonnet House - Yvette + Diego http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/12/wedding-at-the-bonnet-house---yvette-diego If you are reading this, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day filled with great food with your loved ones. We certainly enjoyed ours! We didn’t want November to slip away without expressing the things we are thankful for.  Gratitude is certainly a topic that comes up during this season – but it is a worthwhile topic to talk about all year long.  If you follow our blog, you may notice that we often acknowledge the relationships we genuinely feel grateful for – our friends, family, clients and colleagues.  We have learned to make gratitude part of who we are rather than just something we conjure for the holidays or solely when good things happen. There is always something to be grateful for! We are happy to share Yvette and Diego’s wedding on this blog to help highlight some of these things.

We are grateful for our clients.  First and foremost, our clients are the center of our wedding photography business. Without them, Photography by Santy Martinez would cease to exist.  We are extra thankful for clients like Yvette and Diego – happy, sweet and charismatic. We are grateful we are trusted to capture important moments for them. Our clients are simply the best!

We are grateful for our unique vantage point.  As wedding photographers, we get to witness a multitude of traditions and cultures and travel to different states, countries and continents that we had never imagined. We meet people from all over the globe and experience life in a beautiful way.  We are thankful for every second that we get to do this job and every place it takes us. Thank you, Yvette and Diego, for providing these moments on your special day.  We really enjoyed capturing your families’ traditional ceremonies and overall good time. Knowing that these photographs will be enjoyed for generations gives us purpose and for that, we are grateful!

We are grateful for the wonderful vendors we get to work with every weekend. There is so much talent that goes into every aspect of a wedding.  From DJs that keep the party going to the amazing wedding planners … we have had the pleasure to work with some of the best in the business! This wedding was no different – Yvette’s beautiful makeup application was done by the awesome Touch of Beauty by Lily and the gorgeous centerpieces were designed by Stems by Jen.  We also can’t forget the amazing staff at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale! These are just a few examples of the vendors that make a wedding day extra special and in turn, helps us create beautiful images for the couple.  We are so thankful for them!

We are grateful for our small business and the lifestyle it has allowed us to create.  It has been an amazing year.  This Fall season alone has been back to back weddings every weekend since September.  Although we may miss out on some of our own family moments on the weekends, we are thankful that our business has allowed us to control how we spend our time.  We are able to work while also being present for our children during the week which is priceless.  Protecting this lifestyle is what motivates us to always give 150% of our energy and talent at every job we do.

We are thankful for our staff and each other.  Who wouldn’t want to work day in and day out with their spouse? Ok, maybe don’t answer that! However, Santy and I actually love working with each other.  Photography was one of the first bonds that brought us together and we feel lucky to share it with each other.  We had so much fun shooting this wedding together at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale.  Witnessing romance every weekend only strengthens our own relationship and for that, we are grateful!  Additionally, the rest of our staff, from second shooters to videographers to our fabulous photo booth attendants, make going to work a blast! Thank you!

And we can go on and on…. I’ll instead leave you to a peak at Yvette and Diego’s wedding day and let the pictures speak for themselves!

Wedding at The Coral Gables Country Club - Alisan + Robbie http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/11/wedding-at-the-coral-gables-country-club We always get excited when we get a message from a wedding planner asking, "Do you have this date available?" We love it because we know that if a couple is referred through a wedding planner there's a great chance they are recommending us because we have worked together in the past and they liked our style and service. They contact us because they already know we will be a good fit with their client. We get excited because working together with one of the many fantastic wedding coordinators in South Florida means that everything is sure to look amazing, the day will be organized, and even the smallest details will be handled with professionalism.  We get excited because it means collaborating with a colleague in the business and sharing a laugh or two. We just get excited! Now- we triple that excitement when the question comes from one of favorites - Events by Gigi!  This is exactly what occurred October of last year when Gigi simply asked if we were available to shoot a wedding on November 11, 2018 for a sweet couple - Alisan and Robbie.  It turned out that we had the date free and we are grateful that we did or not we would not be able to present this beautiful couple in this blog today.

Alisan and Robbie had such a spectacular wedding day. It was truly one of those perfect Fall days in Miami with blue skies and just enough coolness in the air to let you know it's not summertime anymore.  The sunny weather must have been a delight to their 200+ guests who all arrived from the Northeast to celebrate with the happy couple. The whole event took place at the Coral Gables Country Club.  This is where the two first saw each other in their wedding attire during an intimate first look and portrait session right before the ketubah signing ceremony. Just as the sun began to set, all of their guests awaited to witness the two exchange vows under the chuppah - symbolizing the home they will build together. And by the looks of all the friends and family surrounding them, they will be building a home full of love.  Once the marriage was made official, it was time to drink, eat, and dance the night away!

The ballroom was impeccable! It was clear that their vision was perfectly executed into a sea of white floral arrangements with hints of gold.  We were just as blown away with the decor as the bride and groom were! It was the perfect setting for Alisan and Robbie's first dance as man and wife. No Jewish wedding is complete without the Hora, or chair dance. In this tradition, a few strong and brave guests hoist the bride and groom high above the crowd on chairs to the infectious sounds of "Hava Nagila" played by the amazing band. It was so much fun! And the fun continued through the night.  What a fantastic way to start a marriage!

So, to say that we were excited for this wedding is an understatement - and now we are excited to share some of our favorite highlights with you.  Please join us in congratulating Alisan and Robbie as we wish them a lifetime of happiness!

Wedding - The Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove | Melody + Peter http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/11/wedding-ritz-carlton-coconut-grove Even before guests arrived, Melody and Peter’s wedding invitation set the tone that this was going to be an extra special event.  From her jewelry to his socks – every element seemed to be hand-picked to perfection.  As photographers, we love photographing all these special details throughout the day – they help make the wedding as unique as the couple!

The day started out at the Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove where we captured both Melody and Peter getting ready.  When we first arrive, we like to set enough time to sneak away for the detail shots – the dress, the shoes, the rings.  If it’s there - we shoot it!  It’s always sweet when the bride and groom exchange a gift on their wedding day. Melody and Peter added this little detail to their day and we thought the moment was just perfect.

The bride and groom made it official with a touching ceremony at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church before heading back to the Ritz Carlton for a night to remember.  They were surrounded with love and blessings from their family and friends.  It was beautiful!

They say it’s all in the details.  Florals with a rich color palette, gorgeous textured linens set the stage for the gold rimmed chargers and candle scape, a dance floor with a wow-factor, our photo booth set up for some picture-taking fun, DJ’s music on point and Hora Loca to get the party going - and we can go on and on.  Please make sure to check out all the vendors below as they were the force behind the magic.  All of the details from this past weekend came together flawlessly to create one big, beautiful picture for Melody and Peter’s special day!

Wedding - Church of the Little Flower - Rania + Andy - Miami Wedding Photographers http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/11/wedding-church-of-the-little-flower-miami-wedding-photographers If you live in South Florida, you know how crazy and unpredictable our weather can be.  One day is a sunny, beach-ready day while the following is a tropical depression - literally.  Last Saturday's wedding day was the latter.  Now, before you start with the "It's like raaai-aaaain on your wedding day" lyrics by Alanis Morissette, let me make one thing clear: October 28th was the single most perfect, fun, and love-filled day for Rania and Andy - and I don't think they would change one thing about it, even the rain!

We arrived at the Trump National Doral with the same enthusiasm we do when we are about to start a new wedding day.  This day we decided to step it up a notch, we knew that we needed to keep the energy level high as our first goal was to reassure the bride that a little rain wasn't going to get in the way of her special day.  This task was not difficult to do - when we walked into the bridal suite, Rania was already surrounded by positive vibes with her sister, cousin, mother and bridesmaids by her side.  Right away, we let her know not to worry about her outdoor portraits. Because the rain was out of anyone's control, we told Rania if she is willing to get dolled up in her wedding gown once more, we would be willing to come out another day to capture the outdoor portraits she envisioned.  We hope this put her at ease and helped her focus on her wedding day festivities.  Our mission as wedding photographers is to deliver a beautiful final product.  We not only document every detail of your day, we want to capture wedding portraits worthy for display.  During our final meeting with our couples, we always discuss factoring in time for portraits into the timeline.  Some couples opt to do a "first look" where they do portraits prior to the ceremony, some allocate an hour after ceremony for pictures, while others simply plan the post-session ahead of time because of the logistics of their wedding day.  In Rania and Andy's case, we offered to do a post-session by circumstance, but we think they will be happy with the option.

Both Rania and Andy got ready at the Trump National Doral - the same resort that would later host their reception.  Every aspect of Rania's wedding attire was on point.  From her makeup to her unique dress to the red bottoms of her shoes - she was beyond stunning!  On the other end of the resort, Andy was anxiously waiting to see his bride.  He too was surrounded by positive vibes as he put on the finishing touches before heading to the church.  The ceremony was held at The Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables. The pews were already full of friends and family when we arrived.  The rainstorm subsided long enough for the bride to make her grand entrance and the look on the groom's face was priceless.  The traditional mass was classy and touching - it was evident throughout the ceremony that these two were truly in love.  It was perfect.

A short drive led us back to the hotel where every detail in the ballroom was set to perfection. We always like to take the bride and groom into their venue space for portraits with their decor.  We feel that this is a special shot to capture.  It's a private moment before they are reunited with all their friends and family.  As wedding photographers, we make it our duty to sneak little moments like this in - we did it at the church once the family portraits were over, we did it on the way up the stairs that led to their ballroom and we did it once again before the reception commenced.   We do our best to pull our couples aside in a way that doesn't take away from their day.  We like to think it helps them slow it down and take it all in!  And once that party got started - there was a lot to take in! Everything was wonderful.  Their guests were treated to heartfelt speeches as they enjoyed their meal followed by a party to remember.  Once dinner was over, friends and family had a blast grabbing a prop and showing their best poses at our open-air photo booth.  Rania and Andy got the party started by tossing the bouquet and garter! But wait, there's more. The crowd really got into it when to everyone's surprise the dance floor was visited by dancers, a drummer and stilt walkers during the exciting Hora Loca.  The best part was seeing how happy the bride and groom were from start to finish.  This was an event to remember!

I started this blog discussing the crazy weather - but as you scroll through the following images you will see that it had no negative effect on this perfect day. As I previously mentioned, I am confident in knowing that Rania and Andy would not have changed a single thing.  “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass... it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” -Vivian Greene. And dance while it rained they did!

Wedding - Secrets Puerto Vallarta - Mexico - Genni + Chris http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/10/wedding-secrets-puerto-vallarta-mexico-miami-photographers We fell in love this weekend – over and over again.

We fell in love with Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  It’s a vibrant, beautiful place filled with friendly people, a vibrant energy and amazing scenery.  With its golden beaches situated alongside the Pacific Ocean and majestic mountainscape, Puerto Vallarta served as the perfect backdrop for a destination wedding.

We fell in love with the resort.  The bride and groom stayed alongside their guests at the spectacular Secrets Vallarta Bay where they were pampered from start to finish.  From hanging out at one of its many sparkling pools to relaxing at their world class spa.  This all-inclusive resort offered their guests unlimited spirits and gourmet dining.  They could not have picked a more perfect location for their wedding day.

We fell in love with Genni and Chris.  From the moment we met this couple we were excited to shoot their wedding story.  These two exude love and we were happy to first capture it during their engagement session.  We love this couple so much that we traveled across the sea to shoot their big day! Genni and Chris have a zest for life that is contagious.  We know we are not the only ones that think they are great. They traveled with a whole crew of their friends and family that know how terrific these two are.

We fell in love with their wedding.  This wedding was a dream come true.  They made it official overlooking the Pacific Ocean as their guests witnessed the exchange of vows.  The ceremony was sweet and romantic.  Once the “I do’s” were official – the party was ready to begin right on the beach! Guests had no issue sinking their toes in the sand.  Sparks were literally flying as the two danced their first dance as husband and wife on the dance floor! After dinner and toasts – dancing ensued and did not stop until the end of the evening. Which by now, if you have been following the love story along, you would know that the end of the night would not be complete without a grand exit!  70+ people on the beach with sparklers surrounded the beautiful couple as they watched an impressive firework display burst into the starry night sky.  It was a perfect ending to a perfect wedding day.  Can you see why we were in love?

Finally, we fell in love once more with our photography business.  We were reminded this weekend why we do what we do.  Yes, we love photography and the art that we produce.  But the real reason we love being wedding photographers is because we love the happiness we can preserve for our clients.  We know that the photos we take today will outlive us one day and will be enjoyed by generations to come.  This is a wonderful feeling!  This weekend was nothing short of amazing and we were able to capture it for Genni and Chris.

So we fell in love this weekend – now you all know! If you would like more information on our services, we would love to hear from you by filling out our contact form.  Please enjoy the following highlights from this beautiful wedding and join us in congratulating Genni and Chris.

Wedding - St Patrick Church - Miami Beach Resort - Denisse + John - Wedding Photographers http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/10/wedding-photographers-st-patrick-church-miami-beach-resort There’s a lot to be excited about over this Miami Beach wedding.  Every detail was impeccable and every moment was meaningful.  Guests drank, dined, and danced the night away under the most beautiful ballroom ceiling in town – all in celebration of the union of Denisse and John.  Anyone who knows this couple can attest that their love is certainly worth celebrating!

Getting ready to say “I do” – Denisse and John both got ready at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa.  This portion of the day is one of our favorites! There is a lot of preparation that goes on before the big show and we love being there to capture it.  It’s important for us to capture all of the details in addition to snapping all of those candid shots. We carefully stage the dress, the shoes and of course, the rings! Makeup shots are a wonderful way to focus on the bride’s beauty as she glams up for her groom.  And there is always a bit of raw emotion the moment the bride steps into her gown and is seen by her mom and bridesmaids for the first time.  We like to think of the “getting ready” as an event of its own before the main event.

Saying “I do” – The ceremony took place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  This was the first Catholic parish on Miami Beach and has a beautiful history with the city.  The ceremony was both traditional and heartwarming.  Having two photographers is usually recommended as it allows us to capture two angles simultaneously. In this case, we were able to catch Denisse as she anxiously waited to enter the church along with her father while also being in place to capture John’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time in her dress.  After the ceremony, we had a very short window of time to take family formals and portraits.  It rained a bit while Denisse and John were busy getting married inside – it’s a good thing she found herself a husband willing to help her with her dress so it wouldn’t get wet! We made the best of it and even got some fun shots out of the scenario.  Luckily, these two had already pre-planned a post wedding session so a little rain wasn’t an issue for them.  They were just ready to get to the party!

They said “I do” – Now that it was official – it was time to celebrate!  Back at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa, guests were already enjoying cocktail hour as the couple snuck into the ballroom to view their exquisite décor.  The resort’s famous starlight room was simply spectacular, the floral arrangements were breathtakingly beautiful, the up-lighting provided by the DJ company helped set the stage for what was to come, and it was all seamlessly executed by one of the best event planners in the business. We make sure to capture all the perfectly selected details – but the ballroom shot is not complete in our eyes unless the couple is in it.  This is their day, their moment, and their décor before it’s touched by guests.

Every wedding, every reception is different.  However, this celebration had a few “extras” that put it in a class of its own.  We try to expect the unexpected at all weddings so that we are prepared for anything yet it was difficult to be prepared the moment Bernie from the Miami Heat joined the party!  Couple his appearance with Hora Loca dancers, a confetti canon shooting 50 lbs. of confetti onto the dance floor and some of the best music mixing in Miami, this was a celebration for the books! Everyone was having fun!  It was clear that all their guests were over the moon for Denisse and John tying the knot.  We hope you enjoy this sneak peek into their wedding day and join us in congratulating them!

Winter Break from a few years back! - Miami Wedding Photographers http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/10/miami-wedding-photographers-winter-break In between editing and planning for our upcoming weddings and holiday sessions, Santy and I have been making plans of our own for this year's Winter getaway.  Every year since we met, we have traveled out of town during this time and this year will be no different.  It's fun to make these memories and of course take lots and lots of pictures! This blog is dedicated to our 2014 Winter trip.

We started this fun road trip in Amelia Island, located right off the coast of Northeast Florida.  This barrier island has all the charm you would expect from a historic town and one of the most beautiful beaches I have visited.  After dining and a little shopping, we took it back to 1864 with a visit to the historic Fort Clinch as soldiers reenact life during the Civil War. Bobby had a blast exploring all the rooms and chambers!

Next stop - Hilton Head, SC.  A few years back we became Disney Vacation Club Members and just love staying at the DVC resorts.  There is always something for kids to do for fun while also providing serenity for the adults.  Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort provided the best of both. It was a great stay on the path to the following stop.

Our adventure took us north to Boone, NC where I reunited with my sister and her adorable family.  They also drove all the way from Tampa, FL to meet us.  It's always fun to spend time with loved ones! Being Florida natives, I recall the cold weather being slightly over our comfort level - but that did not stop us from having some fun!  Once there, we all did a bit of exploring of our own by visiting the majestic Grandfather Mountain!  Grandfather Mountain has been an icon in North Carolina’s landscape for generations, offering stunning scenery and unmatched ecological diversity. Here you can see that we were extra brave and crossed the mile-high swinging bridge - not a small feat for anyone that fears heights!  Leaving this area took us on a sightseeing drive through the famous Blue Ridge Parkway that was simply breathtaking.

If you are up in North Carolina, don't forget to check out Blowing Rock.  It is a neat little town that makes you feel like you are in Europe. The stunning views you get from the actual blowing rock will take your breath away while enticing to explore the surrounding mountain’ trails and waterfalls. Such a fun experience!

We love capturing your most precious moments - we've made it our business to do so! But we also love creating our own memories with our loved ones.  Spending time with family was the best part of the trip!  We hope you enjoy this peek into our life.  Now back to planning this year's vacation...

Wedding - Church of the Little Flower - Jocelyn + Andrew - Miami Wedding Photographers http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/10/miami-wedding-photographers-wedding-church-of-the-little-flower They did it! Jocelyn and Andrew tied the knot! If you keep up with our blog, you may remember these two from the photos of their engagement session at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.  We are excited to announce that they are now husband and wife.

Their day could not have been more incredible.  It was an early start at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables as they each got ready in their respective rooms.  It is so important for us to capture this stage of the day and all the details that go into getting ready – the dress, the shoes, the rings… the cuff-links, the shot glasses! If an item is prominently in the room, we like to assume it has a special meaning.  We will take its picture!  All of these things contribute to making the day unique.  There are also special moments that we don’t want to miss – the first time mom smiles as she buttons up her daughter’s bridal gown or when the groom has a last toast with his groomsmen before he is off to see his bride.  These are moments we, as wedding photographers, know to anticipate yet have to be quick to capture.

We took advantage of the gorgeous day and the Biltmore’s iconic architecture for portraits of the couple prior to the ceremony.  They had had some practice at their engagement shoot and by their wedding day, these two were experts at posing!  This helped a lot as we were able to get through the photos of the two of them in minimal time so that they could freshen up before they said “I do”!

Jocelyn and Andrew’s ceremony took place at The Church of the Little Flower Catholic Church, also in Coral Gables. The church is built in a Spanish Renaissance style with a majestic domed ceiling.  Jocelyn looked absolutely stunning walking down its long aisle as Andrew had one of the best grins we’ve ever seen on a groom!

Once these two were officially married, it was time to party! They reunited with all of their friends and family just a short drive south at Vista Lago Ballroom.  As guests enjoyed a cocktail (or two) outside, the couple took a moment to themselves to admire their ballroom décor.  (Some of our readers may recognize the Game of Thrones inspiration!)  The rest of the evening was one big celebration.  Jocelyn and Andrew were surrounded by so much love and happiness – what a fantastic start to a marriage! Please join us as we send our warmest wishes to the new Mr. and Mrs.!

Our travels to St. Louis, Missouri - Miami Wedding Photographers http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/9/miami-wedding-photographers-santy-martinez-st-louis-missouri Happy Fall Y'all!  Ok... so living in South Florida, we have to get a bit creative when describing our Fall season.  There are no colorful leaves or a crisp breeze in the air.  Cute boots make our feet extra sweaty and there is really no need for flannel or wool.  Want to wear that cute knit hat while sipping your Pumpkin Spice Latte?  You better be sitting under the A/C vent at your local Starbucks because that's as cool as it's going to get.  Do I love South Florida and our Faux Fall? Yes, and Yes!  I am a fan of palm trees and the ocean.... and soon those Fall days when the weather turns slightly less humid than our Summer months.  I live for those rare Fall nights when we can sit outside without the assistance of a fan. It means Hurricane Football Season and pop-up pumpkin patches. Florida Fall equates to Epcot's Wine and Food Festival and Disney's Not-So-Scary-Halloween! As South Florida wedding photographers, it also means Wedding Season in Miami, with snowbirds and locals alike exchanging vows.  It's truly a beautiful time of year in Florida - even if for different reasons than the traditional Northern standard of Autumn.  It's not a surprise that we are such a popular destination this time of year.  Now that I have established my love for Florida Fall, I can acknowledge the other version....

Today we would like to blog about the time we experienced this mysterious Fall season that growing up, I only read about or have seen in movies... A few years ago, Santy and I traveled to St. Louis, MO to capture an engagement session to a couple of awesome Miami transplants.  I really did not know what to expect as I had never experienced a true change of season (#miamigirlproblems - read above for clarification).  I can say with confidence that I was not disappointed!  The colorful leaves were unreal! I saw yellows and reds and oranges that looked like they were painted onto the leaves - if I had not touched it myself I may not have believed they could exist in nature.  The chill in the air led to the need for leather boots and scarves, it was almost a comforting feeling that made the grey St. Louis sky seem bearable.  Our first stop was Forest Park. Once home to the 1904 World’s Fair, it is one of the largest urban parks in the United States. It attracts 12 million visitors a year with world-class attractions and scenic walking and biking trails.  It provided a stunning backdrop for the engagement session and our couple was awesome enough to even snap a few rare photos our way.   Our trip to St. Louis also included a visit to the famous Saint Louis Zoo -one of the city’s many free attractions, this zoo has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading zoological parks.  We had a ton of fun there and even made friends with the big apes! We of course took a trip to see the city's iconic Gateway Arch. I took the 630-foot ride to the top of this world-famous stainless-steel monument while Santy safely stayed on the ground!  The views from the top were quite breathtaking.  From there, we took a short stroll to see where the St. Louis Cardinals play at Busch Stadium.  A visit to Saint Louis would not have been complete without checking out the historic Anheuser-Busch Brewery, where you can visit the famous Budweiser Clydesdales!

Please enjoy a glimpse of our "real Fall" trip to St. Louis, MO.  We hope to visit again one day!  In the meantime, I will go paint my nails in a darker hue and order an Autumn-flavored iced coffee to beat the heat and get into the Florida Fall mood!

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens - Engagement Session - Rania + Andy http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/9/miami-wedding-photographers-vizcaya-museum-and-gardens-engagement-session This year has been a fantastic one so far in so many ways.  As we are geared up and ready for a very active wedding season, we would like to take a moment to reflect on what has made 2017 such a success.  Simply put - our clients!  We have gotten to know and photograph so many wonderful couples such as these two featured on the blog today.  Having clients like Rania and Andy is a huge part of why this year has been so amazing!   This is the kind of couple that every wedding photographer dreams about - a warm and happy pair that exudes joy.  We can't begin to express how grateful we are for our clients - like Rania and Andy - who trust us in documenting their love story.  From their engagement to their wedding day ...and beyond.  Our clients are the best!

We have carefully selected some of our favorite images from Rania and Andy's Miami engagement session to share with you today.  Engagement sessions are wonderful because they are much, much more relaxed than the wedding day. We have a chance to get to know each other and have fun as we’re taking photos and establish a connection that will enhance the wedding day.  It’s what establishes the bond between our couples and their photographer enabling us to relax and allow us to capture the organic emotions of the day.  Rania and Andy's session is a perfect example of how this works.  The whole session took place at the beautiful Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Coral Gables, FL.  For the couple, it was a relaxing stroll through the gardens full of fun and laughter.  For us, this stroll is also a learning curve to study the couple - which poses work, which is the "real" smile or simply an observation of how the two interact in order to catch that perfect image.  A professional wedding photographer understands posing and all the tricks and techniques that naturally comes from experience.  We are able to give the couple direction without it feeling too stiff.  The flow of the session feels seamless and by the time their wedding day comes along - they are pros at being in front of the camera!  We like to think of the engagement session like a dress rehearsal for the big day.

We hope that you enjoy the following images and get inspired to have an engagement session too! If you are searching for a wedding photographer we would love to chat with you.  The year is not over yet and we are excited to meet our future clients!

Morikami Japanese Gardens Engagement Session - Miami Wedding Photographers http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/9/miami-wedding-photographers-morikami-japanese-gardens-engagement-session

We have another fun engagement session featured for you today! Jocelyn and Andrew chose to do their shoot at the beautiful Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens located in Delray Beach, FL.   We love shooting at Morikami, with their lush landscaping and cool architectural details, it's a gorgeous backdrop for photographs. According to their website, Morikami’s gardens, named Roji-en: Garden of the Drops of Dew, were designed to be a living exhibit complementing the museum. It's designer Hoichi Kurisu sought to create a garden complex for the new millennium. Its six distinct gardens are inspired by, but are not replicas of, famous gardens of Japan. If you live in South Florida and have not visited, we highly recommend the trip to this hidden gem.  We were sure happy to drive up for this beautiful engagement session! These two are just the sweetest couple and were a joy to capture.

We met Jocelyn and Andrew over a year ago when they came to our Kendall studio. They came to us referred by a recent bride and groom whom we also had the pleasure of photographing their wedding. During our meeting, we got to know each other better and chatted about their future wedding day.  Fast forward to today, we are only a couple short weeks away to witnessing their vision for their big day transpire. It's sure to be an awesome event! We often get asked how soon is too soon to book your wedding photographer.  Our recommendation is to book us as soon as you secure the date with the venue.  We often, as in Jocelyn and Andrew's case, get booked up to a year in advance.  Contacting us as soon as possible will increase the chances we are available for your wedding date.  Not only will you secure us as your wedding photographers, it will also allow you to lock in the current pricing and take advantage of our different finance options.  Additionally, booking your photographer early will allow you plenty of time for an engagement session such as this one- these photos can be used for save-the-dates, the engagement party, bridal shower and/or sign-in book for the wedding.  Engagement sessions such as the one in this blog is a fun way to celebrate the love between the couple before they make it official - And Jocelyn and Andrew had tons of love to celebrate!

Please enjoy the following images and don't hesitate to contact us with your inquiries!

Engagement Session - Vizcaya Museum and Gardens - Yadira + Ross http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/8/engagement-session-vizcaya-museum-and-gardens Miami Wedding Photographers - If happiness is being married to your best friend, then these two are setting themselves up for a lifetime of smiles! Yadira and Ross have a natural chemistry together and truly complement one another.

We had the honor of shooting their friends' wedding and now we have the distinct pleasure of preserving memories for them as well!  Their South Florida wedding is set for February and is sure to be an event to remember - however, we want to take a moment with this blog to celebrate this special time in their lives, that is, their engagement!

Their engagement session took place in Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and at Key Biscayne - both picturesque locations in Miami.  These are popular spots to shoot at for a reason! Although we have worked at these locations countless times, they never get old! For example, we have a clear advantage at Vizcaya having the experience to maneuver around the property with ease - knowing all the best nooks to shoot at.  South Florida is hot, especially in the summertime, which is why it helps to be able to shoot efficiently while covering the most ground.  This is where knowing where to go comes in handy!  As with any place we have shot at many times, we always go in with the mentality that it is our client's first time taking photos there. We truly do our best in creating a unique experience for them. There are many reasons we can list as to why we love shooting at a new location - the obvious being that it is a new canvas for us to work with.  However, it does give the photographer an edge if they are familiar with the property. Having been in the photography business in Miami for almost ten years, we know a lot of these popular locations well! No matter how many times we shoot at a venue, the one thing that is guaranteed to always be unique is the couple- And Yadira and Ross certainly brought their own flair to their engagement shoot!

The engagement session was perfectly timed in the afternoon so that the natural light was just right.  As aforementioned, the second location of the shoot took place in Key Biscayne, overlooking the Miami skyline.  It was a great fit as Yadira and Ross looked amazingly classy in their attire which only accentuated their good looks.  It was a beautiful day and they were just so happy from start to finish.  We love keeping our couples smiling throughout the shoot - smiles always make for better photos! Being engaged is such a fun chapter in their love story that smiling just seems more natural than looking serious.  We hope you enjoy a peek at their engagement session and hope these pics make you smile too! Wedding First Miami Presbyterian Church | Alejandra + Anthony http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/8/wedding-first-miami-presbyterian-church Miami Wedding Photographers - As wedding photographers, we take our role as photojournalists pretty seriously.  We know that on wedding day, we are not only hired to take gorgeous portraits, but also to capture the events as they unfold naturally.  We are artistic storytellers.  Our hope is that our images may one day bring our clients back to the moment – as they happened.  And with so many special moments that occur during a wedding, our experience allows us to anticipate them.  Special moments like the ones on Alejandra and Anthony’s big day.

As with most weddings, the event actually starts way before the guests arrive to the ceremony.  With a room full of bridesmaids and make-up artists on one end and groomsmen at the other, the bride and groom begin their day prepping for their big moment with friends and family by their side.  It’s the bride slipping into her white gown and the groom buttoning up, in this case, his uniform.  These moments are just as important for us to capture – it sets the stage for what’s to come.

Their friends and family gathered at First Miami Presbyterian Church in the heart of Downtown Miami to witness Alejandra and Anthony exchanging their vows.  It was full of traditions and sprinkled with personal touches – such as their vows.  The ceremony was simply perfect.  Accompanied by their military court, their exit from the church was nothing short of spectacular.

After the ceremony, the couple allowed time for us to capture their wedding portraits.  This is perhaps one of the only times during the day where we, the photographers, give our couple direction on how to pose.  It’s not every day that couples are in front of a camera so it’s important that we make them feel comfortable and have a rhythm of poses so that the images look candid and happy.  Our goal is to keep our couples smiling so that we can deliver natural looking photographs that document the first day of their marriage.

Once we were done with portraits, their classic getaway car whisked Alejandra and Anthony just across the bridge to the beautiful Jungle Island where they continued the festivities.  There, we continued to catch those special moments – the first dance, the toasts, the dancing! All the elements that make their wedding story special… we were there with camera in hand. Please join us as we wish this special couple a lifetime of joy!

Wedding at Douglas Entrance - Natalie and Ariel http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/7/wedding-at-douglas-entrance We, at Photography by Santy Martinez, are always thrilled to be able to shoot a wedding at the gorgeous Douglas Entrance in Coral Gables, FL.  Being Miami wedding photographers means we get to shoot at amazing locations, and this one is up there as one of our favorites for it's beautiful design and architecture.  With its stunning stairway leading up to the grand ballroom, this venue feels like it is straight out of a fairy tale book for Natalie and Ariel.

The day started at the Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove.  Watching Natalie get prepared for the big event surrounded by her bridesmaids, the moms and adorable flower girl was just the beginning and an event in itself. She was a stunning bride and we just knew Ariel would be blown away at her sight! Of course, Ariel cleaned up pretty nicely himself with a little help, and a lot of laughs, with his groomsmen. His grin showed his love for Natalie as they exchanged vows in an intimate setting surrounded by so many people that were wishing them a happily ever after.

Once they officially tied the knot, it wasn't long after the formal dances and delicious sit-down dinner that this husband and wife team showed their guests how to party! It was a night of endless dancing, smiles and celebration.  Natalie and Ariel also hired us for our fun photo-booth and their guests took advantage of all the props and unlimited printed photographs.  Not only was this a great way to get friends and family to act a little silly in front of the lens, it also made for a perfect party favor.  As an added bonus, the couple got a copy of all the digital images taken at the booth so that they could laugh along with their guests long after the party was over.

We love happy people.  That is why we love shooting weddings.  It is weddings like Natalie and Ariel's that keep us motivated in continuously perfecting our craft.  We hope they enjoy reliving their big day through their wedding photos for years to come.  Join us as we wish them a lifetime of joy!

Engagement Session Key Largo Florida - Jessica and Jesse http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/6/engagement-session-key-largo-florida Jessica and Jesse's Engagement Session

Engagement Session Key Largo Florida

When it comes to celebrating the most precious moments of your life, choosing the right location is extremely important.
Imagine a romantic evening with your significant other in a picture-perfect setting as the mesmerizing blue backdrop gradually melts into the marvelous hues of red and orange. That was just one of the reasons why the newly engaged couple, Jessica and Jesse, chose this magnificent boating dock in Key Largo, Florida as the site for their engagement photo shoot. The majestic ocean and the multi-hued sky provided a perfect backdrop for the delightful session.

How We Met

Jessica and Jesse have decided to go for a cool wedding in December, and were looking for a photographer to preserve the beautiful memories of their big day. This couple came to visit us at our Kendall studio back in January. They found us by the recommendation of Nicole of Nicole Joy Events. Nicole is great friend and no doubt one the top wedding planners in South Florida. A huge shout out to her for bringing this lovely couple into our lives. It is always a joy to work with her.  It was such a fun time chatting at the studio and we felt the instant connection. We are overjoyed that they are inviting us to be a part of the wonderful journey they are about to embark on.

A Little About The Couple

Living in Miami Jessica and Jesse’s fondness for boats led to the selection of this location. This venue holds a strong sentimental value for the couple. They frequently enjoy boat trips with family and friends to the beautiful sandbars around the Keys and beyond.

We also have to mention their love for the University of Miami Hurricanes!  These two bleed orange and green and know that it's All about the U! That being said, we couldn't continue taking photos without incorporating a little Hurricane pride.  It was only appropriate to bring a little of their personality into the shoot.  It brought a little extra fun to their session!

The Session

Jessica and Jesse are one of the most exciting couples we have worked with. The day of the session, we met the adventurous souls at Jesse's family home in Key Largo before we got on the boat and headed out to sea.   Complementing each other, the blue sky and the vast ocean gave us a perfect background to work with.  The couple had a brilliant time and they didn’t shy away from telling us their ideas for the shoot as well as giving us creative freedom.  The collaboration made it even more enjoyable for everyone present there that day. We love the way their personalities shine bright in each photo we clicked.

Sunset

The Keys boasts some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. This is why Jessica and Jessie chose to end their session at one of their favorite rendezvous, Snook’s Bayside Restaurant and Grand Tiki. This ocean-side restaurant offered front row seats.  So as the sun set on their soon-to-be new beginning in Key Largo, the gorgeous sky painted the perfect picture for an unforgettable end to a beautiful. The horizon provided just the right lighting, adding to the enchanting glow that was already present on their beautiful faces.

We are so pumped to shoot their wedding later this year! If this session was any indicator of the fun we will have, than we know it's going to be a blast.  We hope you enjoy their photos!

Our little Savannah is ONE http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/5/our-little-savannah-is-one Our baby girl just turned one! To say that she brings joy and love into our lives is an understatement. We could never have imagined how this little human could change all of our lives in such a beautiful way.  The past year and nine months has sure been an adventure.  We would like to take some time to thank all of our friends, family, and clients who have supported us and have been part of Savannah's life!  For some of our clients, Savannah was at your wedding (in the belly) as Annie captured your big day.... for other clients, Savannah has given you her big grin at the studio as we capture your little ones too! Many of you have followed her #first365daysofSavannahMarie on Instagram and have not missed a day of her smiles! We would also like to send a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and all that were involved at South Miami Hospital  and South Miami OBGYN to bring our angel into this world.  You are all amazing!

She touches our life in a positive way every day and we hope she has brought a little bit of sunshine to yours too! Please join us in wishing Savannah a happy first birthday! The following images are from the past year and nine months of her existence with Mommy, Daddy and big brother Bobby by her side ...and of course a little Disney here and there! Enjoy!
