Lauderdale has become a sought out wedding venue in South Florida for its historic and extraordinary architecture and its surrounding natural beauty.  Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, the Bonnet House stands on 35 acres of lush landscaping with the feel of a tropical oasis.  This is where the beautiful Emily married her now husband Matthew and we were honored to be there to capture it all!

Although Emily and Matthew live in California, they decided to celebrate their wedding among friends and family back home in Florida.  This was the first time we met the couple since they booked us as their wedding photographers over the phone from across the country, but it was an instant connection! They were both so sweet and fun.  Their morning started at the Ft. Lauderdale Marriot Beach Resort where they both got ready to separately head over to the venue.  Once at the Bonnet House, Matthew waited with his groomsmen as Emily slipped into her wedding gown in the upstairs bridal suite surrounded by her girls.  It wasn’t long before we snuck them away for their first look.  Away from everyone, the two had a private moment to see each other for the first time and it was truly special!

Guests had already been trickling in and began taking their seats at the ceremony site.  They were all treated to a heartfelt exchange of vows.  It was beautiful!  Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Bonnet House’s lovely courtyard before they took a seat.  The reception area was all about the details!  It was a stunning setting for the new husband and wife to enjoy their first dances followed by toasts to the newlyweds.  The rest of the evening was full of love, laughter and dancing!

Join us as we congratulate Emily and Matthew as you enjoy this sneak peek!

SAVANNAH'S 2ND BIRTHDAY - DISNEY CRUISE http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/5/savannahs-2nd-birthday---disney-cruise Today we are taking a break from our regularly scheduled wedding and engagement session photos to share with you a very special post.  Our little girl just turned two years old!  It seems like Santy and I were just shooting a wedding with my big belly in tote and here we are with a full-grown toddler.  Time really flies!  If you follow our social media accounts, you would know that we are big Disney fans and like to call Walt Disney World our second home.  This year, to keep up with our Disney obsession, our little family decided to take off on a Disney Cruise to commemorate Savannah’s special day.  It is safe to say that an amazing time was had by all!

If you have been on the fence on whether or not take the kiddos on a Disney Cruise, I am here to persuade you to do it.  It was worth every penny.  From the moment we stepped onto the ship we were greeted by name as cast members cheered for us.  The Sail Away party on the main deck was spectacular and set the tone for the trip as we danced along with Mickey and his friends at the high-energy dance party.  Our stateroom was awesome with the coolest port hole overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  Savannah just loved sitting on its ledge and looking out!  If you are into Broadway like I am, then you will be in awe at the shows.  We saw two shows including a stage adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.  I literally teared up because it was so beautiful.  The Disney Dream has three main dining rooms – the Royal Palace, the Enchanted Garden, and our favorite, the Animator’s Palate – all on rotation the three nights.  We had the same servers rotate with us and they were so much fun and really made Savannah’s birthday celebration special!!

We spent Saturday exploring Nassau, Bahamas before we got ready for pirate night back on the ship. Don’t worry if you “landlubbers” left your pirate attire back home, Disney provides you with cool bandannas to sport.  If you are not familiar with pirate night, it’s a big celebration where Mickey and friends all dress up like pirates and put on a show.  Later that night, the Pirates in the Caribbean (see what they did there) show takes place on deck followed by a spectacular firework display and a pirate dance party.  Be prepared for a lot of dance parties!  We learned that Savannah is quite the party animal!   Sunday, we headed over to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.  Bobby and I woke up early and ran the 5K (we had to burn off that buffet food somehow!) The rest of the day was spent lounging at the beach, swimming in the crystal-clear Bahamian water, splashing around, and of course, eating more delicious food! That night was the grand farewell party and the kids got to meet all their favorite characters again as they said good-bye – it was so nice!

I could go on and on about the other activities on board, but I think you should book the cruise and experience it for yourselves!

Please take a moment to view our vacation video with some of our favorite highlights from the trip.  We know Savannah had a fabulous second birthday!

Wedding at the Epic Hotel Miami - Annabelle + Abner http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/5/wedding-at-the-epic-hotel-miami---annabelle-abner Can we take a moment to gawk at this elegant and classic wedding that recently took place at the Epic Hotel in Miami? What an event!  We absolutely love shooting at this beautiful venue.  The city-scape backdrop set the stage for this romantic couple as they said “I do”, ate, danced, and celebrated the night away.  Everything took place at the Epic Hotel from the getting ready to the ceremony, from cocktail hour to the reception.  There was such a seamless transition from one event to the next, all thanks to the amazing staff and vendors.

It was truly our privilege to spend the day with Annabelle and Abner.  Such a sweet couple!  We met Annabelle at one of the Epic Hotel’s conference rooms where she was surrounded by all her girls.  The excitement was becoming real as she sat in the makeup chair getting dolled up by the talented Sissi Hair and Make Up . Abner was not far away as he was getting ready with his best men by his side.  It wasn’t long before they were both making their way to meet their guest for the ceremony. It was so lovely! Once they made it official, it was our turn to have a little fun taking them around the property for some portraits as guests enjoyed their cocktails.

The rest of the night was as simply exquisite.  The décor was on point and set the ambiance for Annabelle and Abner to enjoy their first dance under sparkling lights.  The party got started with music and lighting provided by Event Factor -always professional and always a pleasure to work with.  It wasn’t long before guests were striking a pose at our Photobooth.  We provided all the props while their friends and family provided the smiles! Everyone was having a great time.  We truly enjoyed being part of their big day and we hope you join us in wishing Annabelle and Abner a happily ever after!

ENGAGEMENT SESSION - BOK TOWER GARDENS - JENNIFER AND JERRY http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/4/engagement-session---bok-tower-gardens---jennifer-and-jerry Any of you that follow us on Social Media know that we are no strangers to Walt Disney World vacations in Orlando, FL.  We must drive up at least every other month.  Little did we know that we were driving right by one of the most beautiful destinations that Florida has to offer - BOK Tower Gardens. This hidden gem was the location selected by Jennifer and Jerry for their engagement session and we are forever grateful to have been introduced to it.  It was simply beautiful and the perfect backdrop to showcase the love between these two.  Please take a moment and read about Jennifer and Jerry's love story and how he got her to say "YES!"  We hope you enjoy this sample from their engagement session at the BOK Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, FL.

HOW THEY MET:

Jennifer and Jerry have known each other for a long time because their families were both a part of South Indian cultural associations. Though they were both involved in the associations as well, they were in different friend circles, and their paths rarely crossed. Their title of acquaintances ended when Jerry randomly messaged Jennifer on Facebook while they were both in grad school. He practically begged her to add him on snapchat so he could show her this grandiose dinner he was cooking for himself. Everyone who knows Jennifer, knows she is a sucker for food, so she accepted his strange offer, and so their story began.

THE BIG PROPOSAL:

Last year, Jerry told Jennifer that he had a work conference in Atlanta for Labor Day weekend. He has many of these dental conferences throughout the year so she did not question it much, even though she suspected a proposal was probably in the works. Jennifer and her girlfriends then decided that they should do something fun that weekend and planned a "girls trip" to Miami.

She always told Jerry that she wanted to wear something nice for the proposal and not look like a bum. He told her to get a dress and would constantly taunt her that she should bring the dress wherever she goes because at any time, place or moment he would propose. Jennifer did not heed his advice and decided to not pack the dress she wanted to wear to their proposal on her trip to Miami with her friends, because she was so convinced that there was no chance he would be there. He even sent her a screenshot of his flight itinerary to Atlanta!

So Jennifer and her girls set off on their trip to Miami. They booked a hotel in Brickell, got their nails done, ate at a fancy restaurants, went out and had a blast. She even got a snapchat from Jerry with the Atlanta filter during the trip... (He had his cousin log onto his snapchat from Atlanta, and send her a snap... clever...) On the second day of the girls' trip, they magically got the room upgraded at the hotel to the penthouse suite. She should have known then that it was all part of Jerry's plan, but the hotel told them that because they messed up their room the night before, it was a complimentary upgrade. Who was she to question the hotel manager... she gladly accepted! That evening Jennifer and her girls decided to go out to dinner at the Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne. Her friends decided that before they go to the restaurant they should take photos by the lighthouse in Key Biscayne. Jennifer should have known by now because who does that, right?? But if you know her friends you would not think twice. So they all got ready and headed over to the lighthouse to take photos. While they were walking there Jennifer's friend got a signal from Jerry that he needed more time and pretended to sprain her ankle. The entire time Jennifer was lecturing to her friends on "this is why it is a bad idea to go to the beach in high heels", urging them that she would leave and just head to the restaurant. Miraculously in minutes time, her friend's ankle heeled and they made their way to the light house. That's when Jennifer first saw signs with cute sayings all along the pathway, and Jerry at the end. He managed to surprise the girl who swears she cannot be surprised, and got down on one knee and proposed. After he proposed they were both greeted by their parents, siblings and closest friends, and had a wonderful party at the penthouse suite. All in all, there was no way it could have been more perfect!

Engagement Session - Matheson Hammock Park - Inely + Isaiah http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/3/engagement-session---matheson-hammock-park---inely-isaiah We had a great time getting to know Inely and Isaiah at their engagement session at Matheson Hammock Park in Coral Gables. We would like to share a little bit about their love story below along with a fun sneak peek from their photo shoot.  We can’t wait to capture their wedding in March of next year – we just know it’s going to be as amazing as they are!

How they met:

In the Spring of 2009, Inely and Isaiah met on a rainy day at the University of Florida. Isaiah was pledging Delta Sigma Pi where Inely was already a member. As a part of the pledging process, Isaiah had to interview every member so he kindly asked Inely all of the questions. Shortly after that day, they began to spend more time together, but never thought anything of it. In fact, Isaiah had bet Inely that he did not want to date anyone in college. Inely bet against him. Little did she know that she was the person who was going to cause Isaiah to lose that bet on October 13, 2009 when Isaiah asked her to be his girlfriend. They loved spending time together, but they really fell in love on the Spanish Steps in Rome when studying abroad the summer of 2010. From that moment, they both knew that what they had was for a lifetime.

The big proposal:

In September of 2017, Inely and Isaiah were on their annual European trip visiting Dublin, London, and Amsterdam. While in Dublin, they went to a small coastal fishing village named Howth which has the closest cliffs to Dublin. Inely and Isaiah first walked around the fishing village and then decided to walk the cliffs to take in the nature. The hike was 6 kilometers and was strenuous since it was extremely steep and windy. Through the walk, they could barely talk to each other because the wind was so strong. They would often lose their balance when taking a step. After about an hour and a half, they finally reached the top of the cliff. Isaiah said “Hey, do you want to stop and sit on this rock to take in the views?” So they walked down towards the rock and while heading down, Isaiah slips and falls on his butt. He then gets up and helps Inely down. As they try to sit on the rock, Isaiah slips and falls once more and they both laugh hysterically. They started talking about their adventures, how much they love travelling, and how beautiful the view was. Then Isaiah said, “I want to be doing this with you for the rest of my life.” At that point he got down on one knee and asked Inely to marry him. So romantic!

Engagement Session Florida Botanical Gardens - Andrea + Harold http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/3/engagement-session-florida-botanical-gardens---andrea-harold Engagement sessions are always a lot of fun!  They allow us to get to know the couple in a relaxed setting without the restraints of the wedding day timeline.  The engagement session also provides the soon-to-be bride and groom a platform to show off their personalities while getting used to being the center of attention in front of the camera.  When choosing a location, we like to suggest that it reflect the couple in some way.  For Andrea and Harold that meant finding a beautiful locale in the new city they now call home – Tampa Bay, FL

Andrea and Harold contacted us this past December for their wedding in Miami that will take place the following December of 2018.  We were so happy that we were available for their date! They met us at our South Miami office and it was an instant connection.  Although Miami is their hometown, they have since moved to Florida’s west coast.  When they suggested that they would like to do their engagement session in the Tampa Bay Area, it was a no brainer for us since we are always looking for a reason to travel.  In this case, we were able to travel and visit family of our own so it was a win/win!

They chose the Florida Botanical Gardens in St. Petersburg near the Tampa Bay area.  This place is truly a hidden gem! It boasts over 100 sun-kissed acres filled with more than twenty-five gardens and display areas with an array of tropical plants – from fruits to herbs to hibiscus and bromeliads.  It was simply a stunning backdrop to photograph this awesome couple.  We had so much fun!  We can’t wait to shoot their wedding back in Miami at the end of this year.  We hope you enjoy this little teaser from their engagement shoot!

Wedding at the Coral Gables Country Club | Yadira + Ross http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/3/wedding-at-the-coral-gables-country-club-yadira-ross One of the biggest compliments we can receive as wedding photographers is a word of mouth referral from past clients.  This is the ultimate “thank you”.  It not only demonstrates that the past client was happy with our work, but so impressed with the way they were treated that they trust us to do the same for their friends and family.  This is what we strive for every time we go out there with our cameras. After all, we understand the importance of our role at the wedding.  We are not only capturing moments, we are capturing emotions and memories that will last a lifetime.  Being a wedding photographer commands a level of professionalism and good humor.  We pride ourselves in not being intrusive yet being at the right place at the right time. We capture the smiles the tears and all the little moments in between that make up the story our clients will treasure forever.  We have great pride in what we do, and therefore these referrals mean the world to us.  This was the case with Yadira and Ross.

Yadira and Ross were referred to us by a past couple whom we shot their wedding a few years ago and we couldn’t be happier that they were sent our way.  They did their engagement session at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and in Key Biscayne.  This was a great way to get them comfortable being in front of the camera before their big day.  We hope you enjoy some of the highlights from their wedding in this blog post! It all started at the Hyatt in Coral Gables where they each were getting ready before heading out to the Coral Gables Country Club.  There, this couple took portraits by the beautifully manicured golf course (Ross is a huge golf enthusiast!) and outside of the venue’s gorgeous building.  Shortly after, Yadira and Ross were ready to walk down the aisle as friends and family waited for them at the Country Club’s lovely courtyard.  Such a pretty setting to say, “I Do”!  As guests enjoyed cocktail hour at the venue’s beautiful lobby, we snuck in for some photos of the décor before the reception commenced.  It was such a lovely wedding!

It was an extra treat to see our past clients as guests at the wedding too.  Of course, we thanked them for bringing Yadira and Ross into our lives as we were thrilled to capture such a beautiful day in their lives.  We hope you enjoy this sneak peek of their wedding!

Wedding - St. Patrick Catholic Church - W Miami Hotel - Karina + Eduardo http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/3/wedding---st-patrick-catholic-church---w-miami-hotel---karina-eduardo Hello March! We are looking forward to all of our upcoming spring weddings and shoots with great anticipation.  We will have the pleasure of working once more at some of our tried and true venues such as the Epic Hotel in Downtown Miami, Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables, and the Curtiss Mansion in Miami Springs, among others.  We are also excited that we have new venues to explore such as an upcoming wedding at Redland Tropical Gardens. It’s going to be an awesome spring season!

Since we are technically still in winter, here’s a sneak peek at one of our latest winter weddings with the beautiful Karina and her new husband Eduardo.  Their traditional Catholic ceremony was held at St Patrick’s Catholic Church located in Miami Beach.  Everyone’s heads turned as they saw the bride walk down the aisle to marry the love of her life.  Just a short drive away, the newlyweds were greeted by friends and family at the always chic W Miami Hotel.  The décor was gorgeous and sophisticated and was the perfect setting to dance the night away – which they did! It was such an honor to have been part of their special day.

In addition to capturing all of these beautiful faces, we have been keeping busy meeting with new clients for future weddings.  Although we still have a handful of dates open for this year, 2019 seems to be booking quickly.  We even started booking for 2020 – that is some early planning!  These brides and grooms understand the importance of booking early to both secure their date and have the flexibility to finance all the goodies they want in order to make their big day complete.

We hope you enjoy this blog and join us to wish Karina and Eduardo a lifetime of happiness!

Vizcaya Engagement Session - Jeanine and Steve http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/2/vizcaya-engagement-session---jeanine-and-steve We have quite a few destination weddings and engagement sessions coming up within the next year.  From Tampa, FL to Savannah, GA …from Cancun, Mexico to Capri, Italy – we can’t wait to capture each one!  When we think of ourselves as destination photographers, these are the types of places that come to mind.  However, we often have couples from out of town planning their destination weddings and engagement sessions right here in our backyard.  South Florida is a desirable location for so many reasons that it is not a surprise it is also a popular choice to tie the knot.  From Ft. Lauderdale to the Keys and all of Miami in between, we have captured destination weddings in Florida for outsiders that always remind us that we live in a beautiful corner of the world!

Jeanine and Steve are a good example of outsiders taking advantage of our sunshine and surroundings.  This couple is from Chicago, IL and contacted us for their engagement session in Coral Gables.  They found us on Instagram where our photographic style caught their attention.  They were looking for a mix of styled and candid shots and we were more than happy to oblige.  This task came naturally as these two have amazing chemistry together.  They opted to go for a romantic feel and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens was a clear choice for them.  We never tire of shooting there!

Getting to know this couple was a real pleasure.  Jeanine was so sweet and excited for her upcoming wedding this summer in Chicago.  Steve is a lucky guy!  We also learned that Steve is a professional pianist and his talent is beyond impressive.  We are so happy that these two found us the way that they did.  It was such a pleasure to be their Miami destination photographers.  We wish them a lifetime of joy and hope they visit our beautiful city again soon!

Wedding at La Jolla Ballroom - Lissette + Chris http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/2/wedding-at-la-jolla-ballroom---lissette-chris This wedding story began last April, surrounded by tulips, in the beautiful countryside of Holland.  This is precisely where Lissette said yes to Chris!  We are so happy that she accepted his proposal because it led them to the magical day we are sharing with you on the blog today.  This Coral Gables wedding was a balance of elegance and fun – just like the couple!

Lissette and Chris began their day at the Hotel Colonnade.  This sophisticated hotel located in the heart of Coral Gables, FL offered a great gathering place for the bride and groom along with their bridal party and family.  Lissette got ready in a hotel suite that boasts two floors and huge windows that allowed ample natural light to shine in.  This was very helpful in terms of photographing the scene and for the comfort of make-up artist and hair artists doing their job to make everyone look their best.  This was also the time we took advantage of photographing all the beautiful details and those little moments shared with her girls.

The Westin Colonnade was also the location for the First Look.  Some grooms cry when they see their bride for the first time – and Chris was one of them!  Just by looking at how beautiful Lissette looked that day, we really can’t blame him.  Both avid Cross-fitters, these two met through their shared love of fitness.  All that working out paid off because they both looked stunning in their wedding attire!  You may even notice the pretty tulips in Lissette’s bridal bouquet – both her favorite flower and a homage to where they got engaged.  Such a special touch!

Guests were gathered at the ceremony site situated under a majestic tree in Coral Gables.  This is where Lissette and Chris vowed to grow in love together for the rest of their lives.  It was an intimate and heartfelt ceremony.  It was evident that each guest was full of joy seeing these two become one as they sent them back up the aisle with a bubble send off.

The rest of the evening was spent celebrating the newly married couple at La Jolla Ballroom just blocks from Miracle Mile.  This popular wedding venue is chic and modern with a classic twist.  We had a chance to sneak the couple away for some final portrait shots both inside and outside the venue as the rest of the guests enjoyed the cocktail hour.  We mentioned that Lissette and Chris are both Cross-Fit fanatics – but we have not mentioned that this bride is a dancer too.  Even knowing this did not prepare us for the perfectly choreographed dance she and her new husband pulled off as their first dance.  There was a lift and all!  We are pretty sure all their guests were equally impressed.

Once the formal dances, toasts and dinner were through – it was time for the party to begin.  Guests enjoyed dancing to the music and striking a pose at our Photo-Booth.  We love when our clients take advantage of our Photo-Booth services as we truly believe it is one of the best wedding favors you can gift to your guests. Lissette and Chris took it one step further and gave each of their guest a 4x6 frame to place their keepsake photograph in.  What a great way to commemorate such a fun event!

We are so happy that we got to document this very special day.  We wish this couple nothing but the best in life.  Please check out the following highlights from their day and also a fun teaser of their wedding video.  Enjoy!

Engagement Session at Vizcaya - Kadesha + Oshaine http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/2/engagement-session-at-vizcaya---kadesha-oshaine It was a flawless day for this elegant engagement session at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.  There are so many hidden spaces throughout the gardens that make this venue so unique! Despite the countless shoots we have done at this desirable location, we never tire of shooting here. There is always a new spot to discover and, of course, new faces in front of the camera that bring new life to each session.

The two new faces we had the pleasure of capturing in this session belong to Kadeisha and Oshaine.  This lovely couple chose to wear both a classic and a more casual outfit to reflect their style.  And boy did these two have style! We just love the vibrant colors in their wardrobe choices.  More notably, the way they looked at each other produced the most uncontainable smiles that always make for awesome pictures!

Kadeisha and Oshaine booked our photography services early on in their wedding planning timeline.  Many couples choose to do this for several reasons.  For starters, there are only a limited number of weekends in a year and we tend to book quickly.  We offer full wedding coverage which means your wedding is the only one we will be shooting that day.  Hiring us early increases the chance that we are available for your date. Secondly, early booking locks in current prices and allows couples to take advantage of financing options.  Also, like Kadeisha and Oshaine, finding a wedding photographer that you feel comfortable with is key.  The best way to learn your compatibility is to take engagement portraits prior to your big day.  When done with time, these engagement photos can be used for numerous things such as Save-the-Date cards, sign-in books, or a beautiful canvas to display at your engagement party or bridal shower.  Lastly, booking your wedding photographer early is just one more item to check off your list of wedding To Do’s – and arguably one of the most important aspects!  Your wedding photos are, after all, the only thing you keep after the wedding is over (except for each other, of course!)

Please enjoy this collection of just a handful of our favorite images from Kadeisha and Oshaine’s engagement session!

Fairways On The Key Wedding - Crandon Park - Key Biscayne - Elizabeth + Kris http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/2/fairways-on-the-key-wedding---crandon-park---key-biscayne---elizabeth-kris We couldn’t have asked for a better couple and wedding to start off our new year with! This was the first wedding we shot in 2018 and we are thrilled to share it with you today. There are so many mini-events that occur during a wedding day – the getting ready, the ceremony, the reception, the send-off…. As wedding photographers, we are sure to capture it all - the big moments as well as all the little moments that happen in between.  We try to keep our blog as up to date as possible, giving you a glimpse of our style and how the wedding stories unfold.

Elizabeth and Kris are marvelous together and documenting them joining their two families was quite an honor for us. Here is a little break-down of their big day:

Getting Ready

Elizabeth got ready at her parent’s house in Miami.  There is something special about getting ready for your wedding day at home! Hanging her wedding gown and staging the rings, among other details, were all done in the comfort of her living room. In the other room, Elizabeth and her girls laughed and had a good time before it was time to get in her dress.  Mom assisted in buttoning up the gown as dad waited to catch a glimpse of his little girl before they drove off to the church in none other than a vintage fire truck! (Yes, dad is a firefighter)

Ceremony

Elizabeth and Kris were married at the beautiful Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  Sticking with tradition, he saw his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle with her father.  This is always a beautiful moment to capture!  The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s brother which made the ceremony extra personal and sweet.  A perfect way to tie the knot!

Reception

The reception took place at Fairways on the Key in Key Biscayne, FL.  Guests enjoyed cocktail hour as we snuck the bride and groom onto the golf course for their portrait photos.  When couples opt not to do a first-look, we are usually limited to the time between ceremony and dinner to take these important pictures.  This takes a little bit of planning but can yield stunning photos – especially when the reception location is as beautiful as theirs!  We had plenty of sunlight to work with before the night sky took over as a signal that it was time to party.

The reception space looked like a dream.  Orchestrated by the talents at Events by Gigi, it all set the stage for Elizabeth and Kris to dance the night away with their friends and family.  As an added bonus, Elizabeth and Kris treated their guests to our Photo Booth where their friends and family could strike a pose and take home a photo souvenir.  A good time was had by all!

The couple were sent away with a celebratory sparkler send off as they were wished a happily ever after. We hope you enjoy this blog and join us to wish them the same!

Wedding - Curtiss Mansion - St. Hugh Catholic Church - Sandra + Jerry http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2018/2/wedding-curtiss-mansion-st-hugh-catholic-church-sandra-jerry As far of romantic weddings go… this one takes the cake!  Every element of Sandra and Jerry’s day came together beautifully.  From their exciting first-look at the Trump National Doral to their traditional ceremony at St. Hugh Catholic Church to their picturesque reception at the historic Curtis Mansion – it was all so dreamy!

Sandra was the epitome of elegance in her gown adorned with delicate lace.  Every detail fit her to perfection.  Jerry looked quite dapper in his tailored tuxedo.  We were so happy that they chose to do a first-look because we just couldn’t wait to start taking pictures of the two of them together. That’s how good these two looked!  Once at the church, they were greeted with a full house of friends and family.  Located in Coconut Grove, St. Hugh is such a lovely church to get married at.  We shoot quite a few weddings there and we are always in awe at its beautiful architecture.

Guests were happy to meet the new Mr. and Mrs. at the enchanting Curtis Mansion.  Located in Miami Springs, this beautiful estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and truly offers the perfect setting for a romantic wedding.  We loved the stunning courtyard lit by bistro lighting.  The décor was on point – almost as sophisticated as the couple themselves.  Everything felt magical – but the true magic was apparent in the way Sandra and Jerry glanced at each other.  It was so obvious that they are madly in love!

This wedding was the last one that we shot in 2017 and was a perfect reminder as to why we do what we do.  There is no doubt that we love the art of photography – I think it’s fair to say that most photographers do!  However, it’s the moments that we capture that move us.  We feel a lot of pride in being able to deliver memories in photographs that will be cherished for generations to come.

Join us as we wish Sandra and Jerry a happily ever after!

Wedding at The Addison, Boca Raton, FL - Alyssa + Israel http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/12/wedding-at-the-addison-boca-raton-fl---alyssa-israel Alyssa and Israel are high school sweethearts that met when they were only 15 years old! Their story is a true love story that began at Coral Reef Senior High School and led them down the aisle this past weekend. Together, they are the definition of soulmates.  From the moment they met as kids, they had that connection that led to friendship and romance.  They have grown up together and motivated each other to be the amazing people they are today.  Their wedding day was years in the making and was such a beautiful beginning to the next chapter as husband and wife.  We feel so honored to have been there to capture those memories for them!

We met Alyssa and Israel back in January when they booked us for their engagement session and December wedding date.  December is among the most popular month’s to get married in South Florida so we encourage couples to book us as soon as they book their venue to ensure that we have their day available.  We only shoot one wedding per day and once we are booked we have to send the dreaded email stating that the day is no longer available.  It’s never really too soon to book us – we have already booked our first wedding for 2020! Luckily, we were available for Alyssa and Israel’s big day and what a lovely day it was!

They could not have chosen a more perfect day to say “I do”.  Their ceremony took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton followed by a gorgeous reception at The Addison.  It was a daytime wedding which was full of love, delicious food, and dancing – so much dancing!  A good time was had by all. Everything was spectacular – from the anticipation of seeing each other as they got ready early in the morning to the awesome bubble send off by their friends and family.  We hope that you enjoy this blog post as much as we enjoyed capturing every moment.  Congrats Alyssa and Israel!

Wedding at the Bonnet House - Yvette + Diego http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/12/wedding-at-the-bonnet-house---yvette-diego If you are reading this, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day filled with great food with your loved ones. We certainly enjoyed ours! We didn’t want November to slip away without expressing the things we are thankful for.  Gratitude is certainly a topic that comes up during this season – but it is a worthwhile topic to talk about all year long.  If you follow our blog, you may notice that we often acknowledge the relationships we genuinely feel grateful for – our friends, family, clients and colleagues.  We have learned to make gratitude part of who we are rather than just something we conjure for the holidays or solely when good things happen. There is always something to be grateful for! We are happy to share Yvette and Diego’s wedding on this blog to help highlight some of these things.

We are grateful for our clients.  First and foremost, our clients are the center of our wedding photography business. Without them, Photography by Santy Martinez would cease to exist.  We are extra thankful for clients like Yvette and Diego – happy, sweet and charismatic. We are grateful we are trusted to capture important moments for them. Our clients are simply the best!

We are grateful for our unique vantage point.  As wedding photographers, we get to witness a multitude of traditions and cultures and travel to different states, countries and continents that we had never imagined. We meet people from all over the globe and experience life in a beautiful way.  We are thankful for every second that we get to do this job and every place it takes us. Thank you, Yvette and Diego, for providing these moments on your special day.  We really enjoyed capturing your families’ traditional ceremonies and overall good time. Knowing that these photographs will be enjoyed for generations gives us purpose and for that, we are grateful!

We are grateful for the wonderful vendors we get to work with every weekend. There is so much talent that goes into every aspect of a wedding.  From DJs that keep the party going to the amazing wedding planners … we have had the pleasure to work with some of the best in the business! This wedding was no different – Yvette’s beautiful makeup application was done by the awesome Touch of Beauty by Lily and the gorgeous centerpieces were designed by Stems by Jen.  We also can’t forget the amazing staff at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale! These are just a few examples of the vendors that make a wedding day extra special and in turn, helps us create beautiful images for the couple.  We are so thankful for them!

We are grateful for our small business and the lifestyle it has allowed us to create.  It has been an amazing year.  This Fall season alone has been back to back weddings every weekend since September.  Although we may miss out on some of our own family moments on the weekends, we are thankful that our business has allowed us to control how we spend our time.  We are able to work while also being present for our children during the week which is priceless.  Protecting this lifestyle is what motivates us to always give 150% of our energy and talent at every job we do.

We are thankful for our staff and each other.  Who wouldn’t want to work day in and day out with their spouse? Ok, maybe don’t answer that! However, Santy and I actually love working with each other.  Photography was one of the first bonds that brought us together and we feel lucky to share it with each other.  We had so much fun shooting this wedding together at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale.  Witnessing romance every weekend only strengthens our own relationship and for that, we are grateful!  Additionally, the rest of our staff, from second shooters to videographers to our fabulous photo booth attendants, make going to work a blast! Thank you!

And we can go on and on…. I’ll instead leave you to a peak at Yvette and Diego’s wedding day and let the pictures speak for themselves!

Wedding at The Coral Gables Country Club - Alisan + Robbie http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/11/wedding-at-the-coral-gables-country-club We always get excited when we get a message from a wedding planner asking, "Do you have this date available?" We love it because we know that if a couple is referred through a wedding planner there's a great chance they are recommending us because we have worked together in the past and they liked our style and service. They contact us because they already know we will be a good fit with their client. We get excited because working together with one of the many fantastic wedding coordinators in South Florida means that everything is sure to look amazing, the day will be organized, and even the smallest details will be handled with professionalism.  We get excited because it means collaborating with a colleague in the business and sharing a laugh or two. We just get excited! Now- we triple that excitement when the question comes from one of favorites - Events by Gigi!  This is exactly what occurred October of last year when Gigi simply asked if we were available to shoot a wedding on November 11, 2018 for a sweet couple - Alisan and Robbie.  It turned out that we had the date free and we are grateful that we did or not we would not be able to present this beautiful couple in this blog today.

Alisan and Robbie had such a spectacular wedding day. It was truly one of those perfect Fall days in Miami with blue skies and just enough coolness in the air to let you know it's not summertime anymore.  The sunny weather must have been a delight to their 200+ guests who all arrived from the Northeast to celebrate with the happy couple. The whole event took place at the Coral Gables Country Club.  This is where the two first saw each other in their wedding attire during an intimate first look and portrait session right before the ketubah signing ceremony. Just as the sun began to set, all of their guests awaited to witness the two exchange vows under the chuppah - symbolizing the home they will build together. And by the looks of all the friends and family surrounding them, they will be building a home full of love.  Once the marriage was made official, it was time to drink, eat, and dance the night away!

The ballroom was impeccable! It was clear that their vision was perfectly executed into a sea of white floral arrangements with hints of gold.  We were just as blown away with the decor as the bride and groom were! It was the perfect setting for Alisan and Robbie's first dance as man and wife. No Jewish wedding is complete without the Hora, or chair dance. In this tradition, a few strong and brave guests hoist the bride and groom high above the crowd on chairs to the infectious sounds of "Hava Nagila" played by the amazing band. It was so much fun! And the fun continued through the night.  What a fantastic way to start a marriage!

So, to say that we were excited for this wedding is an understatement - and now we are excited to share some of our favorite highlights with you.  Please join us in congratulating Alisan and Robbie as we wish them a lifetime of happiness!

Wedding - The Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove | Melody + Peter http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/11/wedding-ritz-carlton-coconut-grove Even before guests arrived, Melody and Peter’s wedding invitation set the tone that this was going to be an extra special event.  From her jewelry to his socks – every element seemed to be hand-picked to perfection.  As photographers, we love photographing all these special details throughout the day – they help make the wedding as unique as the couple!

The day started out at the Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove where we captured both Melody and Peter getting ready.  When we first arrive, we like to set enough time to sneak away for the detail shots – the dress, the shoes, the rings.  If it’s there - we shoot it!  It’s always sweet when the bride and groom exchange a gift on their wedding day. Melody and Peter added this little detail to their day and we thought the moment was just perfect.

The bride and groom made it official with a touching ceremony at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church before heading back to the Ritz Carlton for a night to remember.  They were surrounded with love and blessings from their family and friends.  It was beautiful!

They say it’s all in the details.  Florals with a rich color palette, gorgeous textured linens set the stage for the gold rimmed chargers and candle scape, a dance floor with a wow-factor, our photo booth set up for some picture-taking fun, DJ’s music on point and Hora Loca to get the party going - and we can go on and on.  Please make sure to check out all the vendors below as they were the force behind the magic.  All of the details from this past weekend came together flawlessly to create one big, beautiful picture for Melody and Peter’s special day!

Wedding - Church of the Little Flower - Rania + Andy - Miami Wedding Photographers http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/11/wedding-church-of-the-little-flower-miami-wedding-photographers If you live in South Florida, you know how crazy and unpredictable our weather can be.  One day is a sunny, beach-ready day while the following is a tropical depression - literally.  Last Saturday's wedding day was the latter.  Now, before you start with the "It's like raaai-aaaain on your wedding day" lyrics by Alanis Morissette, let me make one thing clear: October 28th was the single most perfect, fun, and love-filled day for Rania and Andy - and I don't think they would change one thing about it, even the rain!

We arrived at the Trump National Doral with the same enthusiasm we do when we are about to start a new wedding day.  This day we decided to step it up a notch, we knew that we needed to keep the energy level high as our first goal was to reassure the bride that a little rain wasn't going to get in the way of her special day.  This task was not difficult to do - when we walked into the bridal suite, Rania was already surrounded by positive vibes with her sister, cousin, mother and bridesmaids by her side.  Right away, we let her know not to worry about her outdoor portraits. Because the rain was out of anyone's control, we told Rania if she is willing to get dolled up in her wedding gown once more, we would be willing to come out another day to capture the outdoor portraits she envisioned.  We hope this put her at ease and helped her focus on her wedding day festivities.  Our mission as wedding photographers is to deliver a beautiful final product.  We not only document every detail of your day, we want to capture wedding portraits worthy for display.  During our final meeting with our couples, we always discuss factoring in time for portraits into the timeline.  Some couples opt to do a "first look" where they do portraits prior to the ceremony, some allocate an hour after ceremony for pictures, while others simply plan the post-session ahead of time because of the logistics of their wedding day.  In Rania and Andy's case, we offered to do a post-session by circumstance, but we think they will be happy with the option.

Both Rania and Andy got ready at the Trump National Doral - the same resort that would later host their reception.  Every aspect of Rania's wedding attire was on point.  From her makeup to her unique dress to the red bottoms of her shoes - she was beyond stunning!  On the other end of the resort, Andy was anxiously waiting to see his bride.  He too was surrounded by positive vibes as he put on the finishing touches before heading to the church.  The ceremony was held at The Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables. The pews were already full of friends and family when we arrived.  The rainstorm subsided long enough for the bride to make her grand entrance and the look on the groom's face was priceless.  The traditional mass was classy and touching - it was evident throughout the ceremony that these two were truly in love.  It was perfect.

A short drive led us back to the hotel where every detail in the ballroom was set to perfection. We always like to take the bride and groom into their venue space for portraits with their decor.  We feel that this is a special shot to capture.  It's a private moment before they are reunited with all their friends and family.  As wedding photographers, we make it our duty to sneak little moments like this in - we did it at the church once the family portraits were over, we did it on the way up the stairs that led to their ballroom and we did it once again before the reception commenced.   We do our best to pull our couples aside in a way that doesn't take away from their day.  We like to think it helps them slow it down and take it all in!  And once that party got started - there was a lot to take in! Everything was wonderful.  Their guests were treated to heartfelt speeches as they enjoyed their meal followed by a party to remember.  Once dinner was over, friends and family had a blast grabbing a prop and showing their best poses at our open-air photo booth.  Rania and Andy got the party started by tossing the bouquet and garter! But wait, there's more. The crowd really got into it when to everyone's surprise the dance floor was visited by dancers, a drummer and stilt walkers during the exciting Hora Loca.  The best part was seeing how happy the bride and groom were from start to finish.  This was an event to remember!

I started this blog discussing the crazy weather - but as you scroll through the following images you will see that it had no negative effect on this perfect day. As I previously mentioned, I am confident in knowing that Rania and Andy would not have changed a single thing.  “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass... it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” -Vivian Greene. And dance while it rained they did!

Wedding - Secrets Puerto Vallarta - Mexico - Genni + Chris http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/10/wedding-secrets-puerto-vallarta-mexico-miami-photographers We fell in love this weekend – over and over again.

We fell in love with Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  It’s a vibrant, beautiful place filled with friendly people, a vibrant energy and amazing scenery.  With its golden beaches situated alongside the Pacific Ocean and majestic mountainscape, Puerto Vallarta served as the perfect backdrop for a destination wedding.

We fell in love with the resort.  The bride and groom stayed alongside their guests at the spectacular Secrets Vallarta Bay where they were pampered from start to finish.  From hanging out at one of its many sparkling pools to relaxing at their world class spa.  This all-inclusive resort offered their guests unlimited spirits and gourmet dining.  They could not have picked a more perfect location for their wedding day.

We fell in love with Genni and Chris.  From the moment we met this couple we were excited to shoot their wedding story.  These two exude love and we were happy to first capture it during their engagement session.  We love this couple so much that we traveled across the sea to shoot their big day! Genni and Chris have a zest for life that is contagious.  We know we are not the only ones that think they are great. They traveled with a whole crew of their friends and family that know how terrific these two are.

We fell in love with their wedding.  This wedding was a dream come true.  They made it official overlooking the Pacific Ocean as their guests witnessed the exchange of vows.  The ceremony was sweet and romantic.  Once the “I do’s” were official – the party was ready to begin right on the beach! Guests had no issue sinking their toes in the sand.  Sparks were literally flying as the two danced their first dance as husband and wife on the dance floor! After dinner and toasts – dancing ensued and did not stop until the end of the evening. Which by now, if you have been following the love story along, you would know that the end of the night would not be complete without a grand exit!  70+ people on the beach with sparklers surrounded the beautiful couple as they watched an impressive firework display burst into the starry night sky.  It was a perfect ending to a perfect wedding day.  Can you see why we were in love?

Finally, we fell in love once more with our photography business.  We were reminded this weekend why we do what we do.  Yes, we love photography and the art that we produce.  But the real reason we love being wedding photographers is because we love the happiness we can preserve for our clients.  We know that the photos we take today will outlive us one day and will be enjoyed by generations to come.  This is a wonderful feeling!  This weekend was nothing short of amazing and we were able to capture it for Genni and Chris.

So we fell in love this weekend – now you all know! If you would like more information on our services, we would love to hear from you by filling out our contact form.  Please enjoy the following highlights from this beautiful wedding and join us in congratulating Genni and Chris.

Wedding - St Patrick Church - Miami Beach Resort - Denisse + John - Wedding Photographers http://www.santymartinez.com/blog/2017/10/wedding-photographers-st-patrick-church-miami-beach-resort There’s a lot to be excited about over this Miami Beach wedding.  Every detail was impeccable and every moment was meaningful.  Guests drank, dined, and danced the night away under the most beautiful ballroom ceiling in town – all in celebration of the union of Denisse and John.  Anyone who knows this couple can attest that their love is certainly worth celebrating!

Getting ready to say “I do” – Denisse and John both got ready at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa.  This portion of the day is one of our favorites! There is a lot of preparation that goes on before the big show and we love being there to capture it.  It’s important for us to capture all of the details in addition to snapping all of those candid shots. We carefully stage the dress, the shoes and of course, the rings! Makeup shots are a wonderful way to focus on the bride’s beauty as she glams up for her groom.  And there is always a bit of raw emotion the moment the bride steps into her gown and is seen by her mom and bridesmaids for the first time.  We like to think of the “getting ready” as an event of its own before the main event.

Saying “I do” – The ceremony took place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  This was the first Catholic parish on Miami Beach and has a beautiful history with the city.  The ceremony was both traditional and heartwarming.  Having two photographers is usually recommended as it allows us to capture two angles simultaneously. In this case, we were able to catch Denisse as she anxiously waited to enter the church along with her father while also being in place to capture John’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time in her dress.  After the ceremony, we had a very short window of time to take family formals and portraits.  It rained a bit while Denisse and John were busy getting married inside – it’s a good thing she found herself a husband willing to help her with her dress so it wouldn’t get wet! We made the best of it and even got some fun shots out of the scenario.  Luckily, these two had already pre-planned a post wedding session so a little rain wasn’t an issue for them.  They were just ready to get to the party!

They said “I do” – Now that it was official – it was time to celebrate!  Back at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa, guests were already enjoying cocktail hour as the couple snuck into the ballroom to view their exquisite décor.  The resort’s famous starlight room was simply spectacular, the floral arrangements were breathtakingly beautiful, the up-lighting provided by the DJ company helped set the stage for what was to come, and it was all seamlessly executed by one of the best event planners in the business. We make sure to capture all the perfectly selected details – but the ballroom shot is not complete in our eyes unless the couple is in it.  This is their day, their moment, and their décor before it’s touched by guests.

Every wedding, every reception is different.  However, this celebration had a few “extras” that put it in a class of its own.  We try to expect the unexpected at all weddings so that we are prepared for anything yet it was difficult to be prepared the moment Bernie from the Miami Heat joined the party!  Couple his appearance with Hora Loca dancers, a confetti canon shooting 50 lbs. of confetti onto the dance floor and some of the best music mixing in Miami, this was a celebration for the books! Everyone was having fun!  It was clear that all their guests were over the moon for Denisse and John tying the knot.  We hope you enjoy this sneak peek into their wedding day and join us in congratulating them!
