We love shooting weddings and it’s a good thing we do because we have been busy capturing brides and grooms every weekend. Every now and then, those brides and grooms contact us once again to capture a different milestone in their lives…. they are expecting a baby! It’s hard for us to put into words the joy we feel when we get these calls. We spend so much time with the couple on the day of their wedding, capturing their love and listening to the promises that they make to each other - it’s so exciting to see those promises fulfilled and that love literally growing in the form of a new baby! This is exactly the case with Nina and Jonathan.
We shot Nina and Jonathan’s engagement session at Deering Estate followed by their wedding back in Fall of 2012. Their ceremony was held at Plymouth Congregational Church in Coconut Grove and their reception at Comber Hall in Coral Gables. Fast forward to 2017, we had the pleasure of capturing Nina and Jonathan once more in celebration of their pregnancy.
It was so wonderful seeing them again and at this point they were pros in front of the camera! We treat our couple’s maternity sessions similar to an engagement session in respect to the posing with the obvious addition of the beautiful baby bump. We want to highlight the love between the parents while also focusing on mom-to-be.
In their case, they chose to do their session outdoors as it was a beautiful South Florida day. This time of year is nice, however, we do know that it can get pretty hot here in Miami – especially in the summer time. This heat can be extra tough on expectant mothers. This is why we do also offer sessions here at our studio where the climate is under our control and we can still produce beautiful images of your pregnancy. Some of our clients have chosen to do both indoor and outdoor sessions which we happily do as well. It’s such a miraculous time in your life to document! We try to make it easy for our clients to get it done.
Nina kept it classy with a “non-maternity” dress that still showed off her belly. A good tip for any expectant mother when looking for a gown to take their maternity pictures in - look for a dress in the regular section! Often an empire waist dress or a loose fitting gown belted just under the bust will do the trick and look great in photos. If you feel uncomfortable it will show in photos so make sure whatever it is you choose to wear represents your style and feels good. Nina looked fantastic and overall felt comfortable in her dress which kept her smiling! You could tell that Jonathan thought she looked radiant as well.
The session was overall fun and full of sweet moments. We hope that Nina and Jonathan are going to be thrilled with their product. They will be receiving all of their high resolution images from their shoot in an online gallery in both color and black in white. We had a lot of fun taking photos during their shoot so they will be receiving a lot of images to share with friends and family … and one day, they will share them with their child!
Please join us in wishing Nina and Jonathan lots of luck as they continue to prepare for their baby’s arrival!
