Summer is officially over as the kids went back to school today and life is back to a routine.  Santy and I have had quite the summer!  We travelled to Italy, took a road trip to Atlanta, cruised to the Bahamas, and got our Disney fix with multiple trips to Walt Disney World. In between the fun and travel, we did have the pleasure of shooting quite a few weddings and photo sessions as well.  It’s been a wonderful summer indeed!

Today we would like to feature one of those aforementioned summer weddings.  Julie and Ralph had a beautiful June wedding here in Miami.  You won’t find a more down to Earth and in-love couple as we found in these two!  This mood translated into their whole day.  From getting ready to their ceremony at Plymouth Congregational Church to the celebration at the DoubleTree by Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay, Julie and Ralph’s wedding was centered on love and having fun!  Even during the unpredicted drizzle right before walking down the aisle, Julie and Ralph’s mood was calm and collected.  They were so happy to be in the moment that a little rain wasn’t going to bring them down.  If anything, it added to their story and made for some adorable photo opportunities!

It was such a delight to be there and capture all the details from their wedding day.  We were also surrounded by a great team of vendors that made the day special.  Alex Martinez Films was by our side capturing video of the events and the team at International Party Designers did a spectacular job at making the venue look stunning.  Once the party got started the dance floor was never empty thanks to the talents from Infinity Sound Production.  Guests also enjoyed striking a pose at our Photo Booth which is always a good time! We are thankful to get to work with so many wonderful people every time we shoot a wedding.

So, while we get back into our routine and say good bye to Summer, we hope you enjoy the following images from this gorgeous summer wedding! Congratulations Julie and Ralph!

Key Biscayne, FL | Engagement Session | Samantha + Patrick Time and time again, we preach that engagement sessions are a great way for couples to get comfortable in front of the camera and for us, as wedding photographers, to get to know the couples a little bit before their wedding.  This case is a little different, you see, I have known this bride her whole life!  Samantha is my niece, my eldest sister’s first born, and one of my best friends for the past 25 years.  She is so special to me and when I learned that she found that special someone to spend the rest of her life with, I was beyond thrilled.  Patrick in his own right is a caring, handsome, and brilliant guy. Santy and I first got to meet him on a trip we all took to Savannah, GA and I was instantly sold that he and Samantha were made for each other.

Samantha and Patrick currently live in Atlanta – the same city where they first met.  They are both big outdoorsy people so it was fitting to learn that Patrick proposed to her during a camping trip to Panther Creek which is in north Georgia.  Once she said yes we all knew it was going to be an exciting year of wedding prep and events – starting with an engagement party!  Their engagement party was held last month here in Miami where both sides of the family got to celebrate the newly engaged couple.  It was also the perfect time to take advantage and capture some engagement photos in Samantha’s hometown.  Santy was not going to pass up the opportunity!

Here in South Florida, there are so many amazing spots to take photos.  Although Samantha and Patrick live in a cool city now, there is one thing that Atlanta is missing – the beach! Knowing that Samantha grew up by the coast (she is practically a mermaid), it was meaningful for her to do photos by the shore.  We love the beaches in Key Biscayne for engagement sessions as it is often secluded and also offers different textures in the landscape with its rocks, mangroves, and of course the rolling waves.  We had a lot of fun during their early morning shoot!  Please enjoy a few of our favorites from their session and keep your eye out as we blog about part two of their engagement session in Atlanta!

WEDDING WELCOME DINNER IN CAPRI, ITALY | PETER + JOHN For those of you who follow our photography blog, you know that we mostly showcase weddingsengagement sessions and our occasional family travel post.  Today’s post hits close to my heart because it not only showcases an amazing event but it is also very personal to me.  It celebrates the union of two phenomenal men that I love – my younger brother Peter and my new brother-in-law John!  Santy was beyond honored to capture the multi-day events that all took place on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy

We are excited to share highlights from their wedding day, but we thought it would be fitting to give you a peek into the events that preceded it.

We arrived in Capri by ferry where we took a cab up the mountain to the private villa we would be sharing with family for the week.  This place looked like a dream!  We all received the cutest welcome bags – designed by Auca Design who also designed all the invites and stationary - with all sorts of local treats and goodies inside.  There was even a personalized ticket to be used for a complimentary gelato- yum! I am still reminiscing about waking up to breakfast on the terrace!  The following day, Santy took advantage of the beautiful scenery at the villa to do portraits of Peter and John before heading to their welcome dinner. I may be very biased – but these two looked so handsome! They were extra dapper that day in their suits tailored by Pepi Bertini – located right here in Coral Gables, FL

Peter and John’s welcome dinner was held the evening before the wedding and it was nothing short of spectacular!  Perfectly executed by the talented team at Capri Moments, the welcome dinner took place at Ristorante Paolino Capri under a canopy of real lemon trees!  Peter and John were greeted by music from a local folk band –Scialapopolo Capri - who were playing uplifting music as the couple walked into the venue.  Almost eighty of us took a seat at one very long table exquisitely decorated in fresh tomatoes, herbs, daisy carnations and chili peppers!  It was very Italian and very beautiful! Friends and family were treated to the most delicious Italian fare as the wine flowed.  I lost count at the amount of courses served as it was all so good!

The night continued with good conversation, laughter, and then plenty of dancing!  The folk band returned for an encore like no other!  They performed with such gusto and enthusiasm that we were soon all on our feet ready to dance and shake our tambourines to the delightful music.  It was the most perfect way to celebrate such a joyous occasion.  What a beautiful display of love being love –that’s amore!

We hope you enjoy these images from Peter and John’s welcome dinner and stay tuned for more from their epic Italian wedding!

To Peter and John, we adore you!  Grazie millie for trusting Photography by Santy Martinez to capture your amore.

WEDDING AT THE DEERING ESTATE | ST. BRENDAN CATHOLIC CHURCH | CHRISTINE + PETR We just loved everything about Christine and Petr’s wedding day!  As wedding photographers, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful fusion of two people from two wonderful backgrounds; Christine from Cuban descent and Petr from Russia.  And with any union of two souls – there is the union of friends and family that make for a spectacular party!  To say that we had a good time shooting their wedding day is a huge understatement!

Our day began with Christine at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables as she got ready with her parents and sister by her side.  It was an intimate gathering of her immediate family as they helped their little girl get into her wedding gown.  And what a wedding gown it was!  Christine’s train was one of the longest and most stunning train’s we have ever seen.  Seeing her dad’s face when he first saw his daughter as a bride was priceless.

The ceremony took place a short drive away at St. Brendan Catholic Church.  Emotions were strong as both sides of the family witnessed the two become one during the traditional ceremony.  The icing on the cake was the perfectly executed dip at the end!  This was the perfect sign to all the guests that it was now time to party.  As we stayed behind for family photos, the rest of the group made their way down south to the beautiful reception venue – the Deering Estate.

For those of you not familiar with the Deering Estate, it is one of South Florida’s most sought after wedding venues due to its historic elegance and beautiful natural surroundings.  How do you enhance an already gorgeous space?  You hire Events by Gigi and her expert eye in making your vision come to life.  They say it’s all in the details and Gigi always delivers.  From the exquisite center pieces from Flowers by Gerardo to the spectacular dessert table from Yummi Chori.  Shooting all the details at this wedding was a wedding photographers dream!  They even had their own draft bar tap where guests could serve themselves.  Event Factor was there to keep the party moving as always and Black and Wine showed up to add that extra excitement during the Hora Loca.  Our Photo-Booth was non-stop all night as guests grabbed a prop and posed for a fun pic!  Most of all, the emotions and smiles were contagious.  This group really knew how to celebrate.  We would like to send our warmest wishes for a life of happiness for Christine and Petr as we ask you to take a peek at their beautiful wedding photos.  Enjoy!

WEDDING AT HOTEL COLONNADE CORAL GABLES - ADRIENNE + DANIEL The Hotel Colonnade in Coral Gables is a gorgeous venue to host a wedding reception.  Evidence of this is the wedding of Adrienne and Daniel which we are excited to feature today on our photography blog.  Expertly executed by the talents at Events by Gigi, this event was simply stunning.  We at Photography by Santy Martinez had the distinct pleasure of capturing Adrienne and Daniel’s day from start to finish.  From the getting ready to the end of the night, this wedding was magical.

We started off the day with Adrienne at the Hotel Colonnade.  The enthusiasm in the suite was palpable!  As she and her girls got ready, Santy and I had fun shooting all the little details – the rings, the shoes, the dress! We were sure not to miss a thing.  Adrienne was looking beautiful as she and her girls were getting glammed up by the Makeup by Marz team before slipping into her wedding gown.  What a gorgeous bride!

Daniel was looking sharp himself as he waited for his bride at St. John Neuman Catholic Church.  His eyes lit up when he saw his bride for the first time!  Friends and family witnessed the couple exchange their vows in a traditional ceremony.  It was such a joyous moment surrounded by loved ones!

After the ceremony, everyone headed over to the Hotel Colonnade where they enjoyed cocktails before the party.  As wedding photographers, we like to sneak the couple to the reception area before guests enter the space.  These are always some of our favorite photos!  Adrienne and Daniel had a moment to themselves to soak it all in.  The rotunda never looked so fabulous! The high floral centerpieces by W&W Flowers and Events were on point.  The stage was set for a night to remember.  The rest of the night was perfectly executed as they ate, danced, and fell in love all over again.  We hope you join us in congratulating this wonderful couple – we wish them a lifetime of happiness!

WEDDING - BONNET HOUSE - EMILY + MATTHEW The Bonnet House located in sunny Ft. Lauderdale has become a sought out wedding venue in South Florida for its historic and extraordinary architecture and its surrounding natural beauty.  Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, the Bonnet House stands on 35 acres of lush landscaping with the feel of a tropical oasis.  This is where the beautiful Emily married her now husband Matthew and we were honored to be there to capture it all!

Although Emily and Matthew live in California, they decided to celebrate their wedding among friends and family back home in Florida.  This was the first time we met the couple since they booked us as their wedding photographers over the phone from across the country, but it was an instant connection! They were both so sweet and fun.  Their morning started at the Ft. Lauderdale Marriot Beach Resort where they both got ready to separately head over to the venue.  Once at the Bonnet House, Matthew waited with his groomsmen as Emily slipped into her wedding gown in the upstairs bridal suite surrounded by her girls.  It wasn’t long before we snuck them away for their first look.  Away from everyone, the two had a private moment to see each other for the first time and it was truly special!

Guests had already been trickling in and began taking their seats at the ceremony site.  They were all treated to a heartfelt exchange of vows.  It was beautiful!  Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Bonnet House’s lovely courtyard before they took a seat.  The reception area was all about the details!  It was a stunning setting for the new husband and wife to enjoy their first dances followed by toasts to the newlyweds.  The rest of the evening was full of love, laughter and dancing!

Join us as we congratulate Emily and Matthew as you enjoy this sneak peek!

SAVANNAH'S 2ND BIRTHDAY - DISNEY CRUISE Today we are taking a break from our regularly scheduled wedding and engagement session photos to share with you a very special post.  Our little girl just turned two years old!  It seems like Santy and I were just shooting a wedding with my big belly in tote and here we are with a full-grown toddler.  Time really flies!  If you follow our social media accounts, you would know that we are big Disney fans and like to call Walt Disney World our second home.  This year, to keep up with our Disney obsession, our little family decided to take off on a Disney Cruise to commemorate Savannah’s special day.  It is safe to say that an amazing time was had by all!

If you have been on the fence on whether or not take the kiddos on a Disney Cruise, I am here to persuade you to do it.  It was worth every penny.  From the moment we stepped onto the ship we were greeted by name as cast members cheered for us.  The Sail Away party on the main deck was spectacular and set the tone for the trip as we danced along with Mickey and his friends at the high-energy dance party.  Our stateroom was awesome with the coolest port hole overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  Savannah just loved sitting on its ledge and looking out!  If you are into Broadway like I am, then you will be in awe at the shows.  We saw two shows including a stage adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.  I literally teared up because it was so beautiful.  The Disney Dream has three main dining rooms – the Royal Palace, the Enchanted Garden, and our favorite, the Animator’s Palate – all on rotation the three nights.  We had the same servers rotate with us and they were so much fun and really made Savannah’s birthday celebration special!!

We spent Saturday exploring Nassau, Bahamas before we got ready for pirate night back on the ship. Don’t worry if you “landlubbers” left your pirate attire back home, Disney provides you with cool bandannas to sport.  If you are not familiar with pirate night, it’s a big celebration where Mickey and friends all dress up like pirates and put on a show.  Later that night, the Pirates in the Caribbean (see what they did there) show takes place on deck followed by a spectacular firework display and a pirate dance party.  Be prepared for a lot of dance parties!  We learned that Savannah is quite the party animal!   Sunday, we headed over to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.  Bobby and I woke up early and ran the 5K (we had to burn off that buffet food somehow!) The rest of the day was spent lounging at the beach, swimming in the crystal-clear Bahamian water, splashing around, and of course, eating more delicious food! That night was the grand farewell party and the kids got to meet all their favorite characters again as they said good-bye – it was so nice!

I could go on and on about the other activities on board, but I think you should book the cruise and experience it for yourselves!

Please take a moment to view our vacation video with some of our favorite highlights from the trip.  We know Savannah had a fabulous second birthday!

Wedding at the Epic Hotel Miami - Annabelle + Abner Can we take a moment to gawk at this elegant and classic wedding that recently took place at the Epic Hotel in Miami? What an event!  We absolutely love shooting at this beautiful venue.  The city-scape backdrop set the stage for this romantic couple as they said “I do”, ate, danced, and celebrated the night away.  Everything took place at the Epic Hotel from the getting ready to the ceremony, from cocktail hour to the reception.  There was such a seamless transition from one event to the next, all thanks to the amazing staff and vendors.

It was truly our privilege to spend the day with Annabelle and Abner.  Such a sweet couple!  We met Annabelle at one of the Epic Hotel’s conference rooms where she was surrounded by all her girls.  The excitement was becoming real as she sat in the makeup chair getting dolled up by the talented Sissi Hair and Make Up . Abner was not far away as he was getting ready with his best men by his side.  It wasn’t long before they were both making their way to meet their guest for the ceremony. It was so lovely! Once they made it official, it was our turn to have a little fun taking them around the property for some portraits as guests enjoyed their cocktails.

The rest of the night was as simply exquisite.  The décor was on point and set the ambiance for Annabelle and Abner to enjoy their first dance under sparkling lights.  The party got started with music and lighting provided by Event Factor -always professional and always a pleasure to work with.  It wasn’t long before guests were striking a pose at our Photobooth.  We provided all the props while their friends and family provided the smiles! Everyone was having a great time.  We truly enjoyed being part of their big day and we hope you join us in wishing Annabelle and Abner a happily ever after!

ENGAGEMENT SESSION - BOK TOWER GARDENS - JENNIFER AND JERRY Any of you that follow us on Social Media know that we are no strangers to Walt Disney World vacations in Orlando, FL.  We must drive up at least every other month.  Little did we know that we were driving right by one of the most beautiful destinations that Florida has to offer - BOK Tower Gardens. This hidden gem was the location selected by Jennifer and Jerry for their engagement session and we are forever grateful to have been introduced to it.  It was simply beautiful and the perfect backdrop to showcase the love between these two.  Please take a moment and read about Jennifer and Jerry's love story and how he got her to say "YES!"  We hope you enjoy this sample from their engagement session at the BOK Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, FL.

Jennifer and Jerry have known each other for a long time because their families were both a part of South Indian cultural associations. Though they were both involved in the associations as well, they were in different friend circles, and their paths rarely crossed. Their title of acquaintances ended when Jerry randomly messaged Jennifer on Facebook while they were both in grad school. He practically begged her to add him on snapchat so he could show her this grandiose dinner he was cooking for himself. Everyone who knows Jennifer, knows she is a sucker for food, so she accepted his strange offer, and so their story began.

Last year, Jerry told Jennifer that he had a work conference in Atlanta for Labor Day weekend. He has many of these dental conferences throughout the year so she did not question it much, even though she suspected a proposal was probably in the works. Jennifer and her girlfriends then decided that they should do something fun that weekend and planned a "girls trip" to Miami.

She always told Jerry that she wanted to wear something nice for the proposal and not look like a bum. He told her to get a dress and would constantly taunt her that she should bring the dress wherever she goes because at any time, place or moment he would propose. Jennifer did not heed his advice and decided to not pack the dress she wanted to wear to their proposal on her trip to Miami with her friends, because she was so convinced that there was no chance he would be there. He even sent her a screenshot of his flight itinerary to Atlanta!

So Jennifer and her girls set off on their trip to Miami. They booked a hotel in Brickell, got their nails done, ate at a fancy restaurants, went out and had a blast. She even got a snapchat from Jerry with the Atlanta filter during the trip... (He had his cousin log onto his snapchat from Atlanta, and send her a snap... clever...) On the second day of the girls' trip, they magically got the room upgraded at the hotel to the penthouse suite. She should have known then that it was all part of Jerry's plan, but the hotel told them that because they messed up their room the night before, it was a complimentary upgrade. Who was she to question the hotel manager... she gladly accepted! That evening Jennifer and her girls decided to go out to dinner at the Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne. Her friends decided that before they go to the restaurant they should take photos by the lighthouse in Key Biscayne. Jennifer should have known by now because who does that, right?? But if you know her friends you would not think twice. So they all got ready and headed over to the lighthouse to take photos. While they were walking there Jennifer's friend got a signal from Jerry that he needed more time and pretended to sprain her ankle. The entire time Jennifer was lecturing to her friends on "this is why it is a bad idea to go to the beach in high heels", urging them that she would leave and just head to the restaurant. Miraculously in minutes time, her friend's ankle heeled and they made their way to the light house. That's when Jennifer first saw signs with cute sayings all along the pathway, and Jerry at the end. He managed to surprise the girl who swears she cannot be surprised, and got down on one knee and proposed. After he proposed they were both greeted by their parents, siblings and closest friends, and had a wonderful party at the penthouse suite. All in all, there was no way it could have been more perfect!

Engagement Session - Matheson Hammock Park - Inely + Isaiah We had a great time getting to know Inely and Isaiah at their engagement session at Matheson Hammock Park in Coral Gables. We would like to share a little bit about their love story below along with a fun sneak peek from their photo shoot.  We can’t wait to capture their wedding in March of next year – we just know it’s going to be as amazing as they are!

How they met:

In the Spring of 2009, Inely and Isaiah met on a rainy day at the University of Florida. Isaiah was pledging Delta Sigma Pi where Inely was already a member. As a part of the pledging process, Isaiah had to interview every member so he kindly asked Inely all of the questions. Shortly after that day, they began to spend more time together, but never thought anything of it. In fact, Isaiah had bet Inely that he did not want to date anyone in college. Inely bet against him. Little did she know that she was the person who was going to cause Isaiah to lose that bet on October 13, 2009 when Isaiah asked her to be his girlfriend. They loved spending time together, but they really fell in love on the Spanish Steps in Rome when studying abroad the summer of 2010. From that moment, they both knew that what they had was for a lifetime.

The big proposal:

In September of 2017, Inely and Isaiah were on their annual European trip visiting Dublin, London, and Amsterdam. While in Dublin, they went to a small coastal fishing village named Howth which has the closest cliffs to Dublin. Inely and Isaiah first walked around the fishing village and then decided to walk the cliffs to take in the nature. The hike was 6 kilometers and was strenuous since it was extremely steep and windy. Through the walk, they could barely talk to each other because the wind was so strong. They would often lose their balance when taking a step. After about an hour and a half, they finally reached the top of the cliff. Isaiah said “Hey, do you want to stop and sit on this rock to take in the views?” So they walked down towards the rock and while heading down, Isaiah slips and falls on his butt. He then gets up and helps Inely down. As they try to sit on the rock, Isaiah slips and falls once more and they both laugh hysterically. They started talking about their adventures, how much they love travelling, and how beautiful the view was. Then Isaiah said, “I want to be doing this with you for the rest of my life.” At that point he got down on one knee and asked Inely to marry him. So romantic!

Engagement Session Florida Botanical Gardens - Andrea + Harold Engagement sessions are always a lot of fun!  They allow us to get to know the couple in a relaxed setting without the restraints of the wedding day timeline.  The engagement session also provides the soon-to-be bride and groom a platform to show off their personalities while getting used to being the center of attention in front of the camera.  When choosing a location, we like to suggest that it reflect the couple in some way.  For Andrea and Harold that meant finding a beautiful locale in the new city they now call home – Tampa Bay, FL

Andrea and Harold contacted us this past December for their wedding in Miami that will take place the following December of 2018.  We were so happy that we were available for their date! They met us at our South Miami office and it was an instant connection.  Although Miami is their hometown, they have since moved to Florida’s west coast.  When they suggested that they would like to do their engagement session in the Tampa Bay Area, it was a no brainer for us since we are always looking for a reason to travel.  In this case, we were able to travel and visit family of our own so it was a win/win!

They chose the Florida Botanical Gardens in St. Petersburg near the Tampa Bay area.  This place is truly a hidden gem! It boasts over 100 sun-kissed acres filled with more than twenty-five gardens and display areas with an array of tropical plants – from fruits to herbs to hibiscus and bromeliads.  It was simply a stunning backdrop to photograph this awesome couple.  We had so much fun!  We can’t wait to shoot their wedding back in Miami at the end of this year.  We hope you enjoy this little teaser from their engagement shoot!

Wedding at the Coral Gables Country Club | Yadira + Ross One of the biggest compliments we can receive as wedding photographers is a word of mouth referral from past clients.  This is the ultimate “thank you”.  It not only demonstrates that the past client was happy with our work, but so impressed with the way they were treated that they trust us to do the same for their friends and family.  This is what we strive for every time we go out there with our cameras. After all, we understand the importance of our role at the wedding.  We are not only capturing moments, we are capturing emotions and memories that will last a lifetime.  Being a wedding photographer commands a level of professionalism and good humor.  We pride ourselves in not being intrusive yet being at the right place at the right time. We capture the smiles the tears and all the little moments in between that make up the story our clients will treasure forever.  We have great pride in what we do, and therefore these referrals mean the world to us.  This was the case with Yadira and Ross.

Yadira and Ross were referred to us by a past couple whom we shot their wedding a few years ago and we couldn’t be happier that they were sent our way.  They did their engagement session at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and in Key Biscayne.  This was a great way to get them comfortable being in front of the camera before their big day.  We hope you enjoy some of the highlights from their wedding in this blog post! It all started at the Hyatt in Coral Gables where they each were getting ready before heading out to the Coral Gables Country Club.  There, this couple took portraits by the beautifully manicured golf course (Ross is a huge golf enthusiast!) and outside of the venue’s gorgeous building.  Shortly after, Yadira and Ross were ready to walk down the aisle as friends and family waited for them at the Country Club’s lovely courtyard.  Such a pretty setting to say, “I Do”!  As guests enjoyed cocktail hour at the venue’s beautiful lobby, we snuck in for some photos of the décor before the reception commenced.  It was such a lovely wedding!

It was an extra treat to see our past clients as guests at the wedding too.  Of course, we thanked them for bringing Yadira and Ross into our lives as we were thrilled to capture such a beautiful day in their lives.  We hope you enjoy this sneak peek of their wedding!

Wedding - St. Patrick Catholic Church - W Miami Hotel - Karina + Eduardo Hello March! We are looking forward to all of our upcoming spring weddings and shoots with great anticipation.  We will have the pleasure of working once more at some of our tried and true venues such as the Epic Hotel in Downtown Miami, Hotel Colonnade Coral Gables, and the Curtiss Mansion in Miami Springs, among others.  We are also excited that we have new venues to explore such as an upcoming wedding at Redland Tropical Gardens. It’s going to be an awesome spring season!

Since we are technically still in winter, here’s a sneak peek at one of our latest winter weddings with the beautiful Karina and her new husband Eduardo.  Their traditional Catholic ceremony was held at St Patrick’s Catholic Church located in Miami Beach.  Everyone’s heads turned as they saw the bride walk down the aisle to marry the love of her life.  Just a short drive away, the newlyweds were greeted by friends and family at the always chic W Miami Hotel.  The décor was gorgeous and sophisticated and was the perfect setting to dance the night away – which they did! It was such an honor to have been part of their special day.

In addition to capturing all of these beautiful faces, we have been keeping busy meeting with new clients for future weddings.  Although we still have a handful of dates open for this year, 2019 seems to be booking quickly.  We even started booking for 2020 – that is some early planning!  These brides and grooms understand the importance of booking early to both secure their date and have the flexibility to finance all the goodies they want in order to make their big day complete.

We hope you enjoy this blog and join us to wish Karina and Eduardo a lifetime of happiness!

Vizcaya Engagement Session - Jeanine and Steve We have quite a few destination weddings and engagement sessions coming up within the next year.  From Tampa, FL to Savannah, GA …from Cancun, Mexico to Capri, Italy – we can’t wait to capture each one!  When we think of ourselves as destination photographers, these are the types of places that come to mind.  However, we often have couples from out of town planning their destination weddings and engagement sessions right here in our backyard.  South Florida is a desirable location for so many reasons that it is not a surprise it is also a popular choice to tie the knot.  From Ft. Lauderdale to the Keys and all of Miami in between, we have captured destination weddings in Florida for outsiders that always remind us that we live in a beautiful corner of the world!

Jeanine and Steve are a good example of outsiders taking advantage of our sunshine and surroundings.  This couple is from Chicago, IL and contacted us for their engagement session in Coral Gables.  They found us on Instagram where our photographic style caught their attention.  They were looking for a mix of styled and candid shots and we were more than happy to oblige.  This task came naturally as these two have amazing chemistry together.  They opted to go for a romantic feel and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens was a clear choice for them.  We never tire of shooting there!

Getting to know this couple was a real pleasure.  Jeanine was so sweet and excited for her upcoming wedding this summer in Chicago.  Steve is a lucky guy!  We also learned that Steve is a professional pianist and his talent is beyond impressive.  We are so happy that these two found us the way that they did.  It was such a pleasure to be their Miami destination photographers.  We wish them a lifetime of joy and hope they visit our beautiful city again soon!

Wedding at La Jolla Ballroom - Lissette + Chris This wedding story began last April, surrounded by tulips, in the beautiful countryside of Holland.  This is precisely where Lissette said yes to Chris!  We are so happy that she accepted his proposal because it led them to the magical day we are sharing with you on the blog today.  This Coral Gables wedding was a balance of elegance and fun – just like the couple!

Lissette and Chris began their day at the Hotel Colonnade.  This sophisticated hotel located in the heart of Coral Gables, FL offered a great gathering place for the bride and groom along with their bridal party and family.  Lissette got ready in a hotel suite that boasts two floors and huge windows that allowed ample natural light to shine in.  This was very helpful in terms of photographing the scene and for the comfort of make-up artist and hair artists doing their job to make everyone look their best.  This was also the time we took advantage of photographing all the beautiful details and those little moments shared with her girls.

The Westin Colonnade was also the location for the First Look.  Some grooms cry when they see their bride for the first time – and Chris was one of them!  Just by looking at how beautiful Lissette looked that day, we really can’t blame him.  Both avid Cross-fitters, these two met through their shared love of fitness.  All that working out paid off because they both looked stunning in their wedding attire!  You may even notice the pretty tulips in Lissette’s bridal bouquet – both her favorite flower and a homage to where they got engaged.  Such a special touch!

Guests were gathered at the ceremony site situated under a majestic tree in Coral Gables.  This is where Lissette and Chris vowed to grow in love together for the rest of their lives.  It was an intimate and heartfelt ceremony.  It was evident that each guest was full of joy seeing these two become one as they sent them back up the aisle with a bubble send off.

The rest of the evening was spent celebrating the newly married couple at La Jolla Ballroom just blocks from Miracle Mile.  This popular wedding venue is chic and modern with a classic twist.  We had a chance to sneak the couple away for some final portrait shots both inside and outside the venue as the rest of the guests enjoyed the cocktail hour.  We mentioned that Lissette and Chris are both Cross-Fit fanatics – but we have not mentioned that this bride is a dancer too.  Even knowing this did not prepare us for the perfectly choreographed dance she and her new husband pulled off as their first dance.  There was a lift and all!  We are pretty sure all their guests were equally impressed.

Once the formal dances, toasts and dinner were through – it was time for the party to begin.  Guests enjoyed dancing to the music and striking a pose at our Photo-Booth.  We love when our clients take advantage of our Photo-Booth services as we truly believe it is one of the best wedding favors you can gift to your guests. Lissette and Chris took it one step further and gave each of their guest a 4x6 frame to place their keepsake photograph in.  What a great way to commemorate such a fun event!

We are so happy that we got to document this very special day.  We wish this couple nothing but the best in life.  Please check out the following highlights from their day and also a fun teaser of their wedding video.  Enjoy!

Engagement Session at Vizcaya - Kadesha + Oshaine It was a flawless day for this elegant engagement session at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.  There are so many hidden spaces throughout the gardens that make this venue so unique! Despite the countless shoots we have done at this desirable location, we never tire of shooting here. There is always a new spot to discover and, of course, new faces in front of the camera that bring new life to each session.

The two new faces we had the pleasure of capturing in this session belong to Kadeisha and Oshaine.  This lovely couple chose to wear both a classic and a more casual outfit to reflect their style.  And boy did these two have style! We just love the vibrant colors in their wardrobe choices.  More notably, the way they looked at each other produced the most uncontainable smiles that always make for awesome pictures!

Kadeisha and Oshaine booked our photography services early on in their wedding planning timeline.  Many couples choose to do this for several reasons.  For starters, there are only a limited number of weekends in a year and we tend to book quickly.  We offer full wedding coverage which means your wedding is the only one we will be shooting that day.  Hiring us early increases the chance that we are available for your date. Secondly, early booking locks in current prices and allows couples to take advantage of financing options.  Also, like Kadeisha and Oshaine, finding a wedding photographer that you feel comfortable with is key.  The best way to learn your compatibility is to take engagement portraits prior to your big day.  When done with time, these engagement photos can be used for numerous things such as Save-the-Date cards, sign-in books, or a beautiful canvas to display at your engagement party or bridal shower.  Lastly, booking your wedding photographer early is just one more item to check off your list of wedding To Do’s – and arguably one of the most important aspects!  Your wedding photos are, after all, the only thing you keep after the wedding is over (except for each other, of course!)

Please enjoy this collection of just a handful of our favorite images from Kadeisha and Oshaine’s engagement session!

Fairways On The Key Wedding - Crandon Park - Key Biscayne - Elizabeth + Kris We couldn’t have asked for a better couple and wedding to start off our new year with! This was the first wedding we shot in 2018 and we are thrilled to share it with you today. There are so many mini-events that occur during a wedding day – the getting ready, the ceremony, the reception, the send-off…. As wedding photographers, we are sure to capture it all - the big moments as well as all the little moments that happen in between.  We try to keep our blog as up to date as possible, giving you a glimpse of our style and how the wedding stories unfold.

Elizabeth and Kris are marvelous together and documenting them joining their two families was quite an honor for us. Here is a little break-down of their big day:

Getting Ready

Elizabeth got ready at her parent’s house in Miami.  There is something special about getting ready for your wedding day at home! Hanging her wedding gown and staging the rings, among other details, were all done in the comfort of her living room. In the other room, Elizabeth and her girls laughed and had a good time before it was time to get in her dress.  Mom assisted in buttoning up the gown as dad waited to catch a glimpse of his little girl before they drove off to the church in none other than a vintage fire truck! (Yes, dad is a firefighter)

Elizabeth and Kris were married at the beautiful Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  Sticking with tradition, he saw his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle with her father.  This is always a beautiful moment to capture!  The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s brother which made the ceremony extra personal and sweet.  A perfect way to tie the knot!

The reception took place at Fairways on the Key in Key Biscayne, FL.  Guests enjoyed cocktail hour as we snuck the bride and groom onto the golf course for their portrait photos.  When couples opt not to do a first-look, we are usually limited to the time between ceremony and dinner to take these important pictures.  This takes a little bit of planning but can yield stunning photos – especially when the reception location is as beautiful as theirs!  We had plenty of sunlight to work with before the night sky took over as a signal that it was time to party.

The reception space looked like a dream.  Orchestrated by the talents at Events by Gigi, it all set the stage for Elizabeth and Kris to dance the night away with their friends and family.  As an added bonus, Elizabeth and Kris treated their guests to our Photo Booth where their friends and family could strike a pose and take home a photo souvenir.  A good time was had by all!

The couple were sent away with a celebratory sparkler send off as they were wished a happily ever after. We hope you enjoy this blog and join us to wish them the same!

Wedding - Curtiss Mansion - St. Hugh Catholic Church - Sandra + Jerry As far of romantic weddings go… this one takes the cake!  Every element of Sandra and Jerry’s day came together beautifully.  From their exciting first-look at the Trump National Doral to their traditional ceremony at St. Hugh Catholic Church to their picturesque reception at the historic Curtis Mansion – it was all so dreamy!

Sandra was the epitome of elegance in her gown adorned with delicate lace.  Every detail fit her to perfection.  Jerry looked quite dapper in his tailored tuxedo.  We were so happy that they chose to do a first-look because we just couldn’t wait to start taking pictures of the two of them together. That’s how good these two looked!  Once at the church, they were greeted with a full house of friends and family.  Located in Coconut Grove, St. Hugh is such a lovely church to get married at.  We shoot quite a few weddings there and we are always in awe at its beautiful architecture.

Guests were happy to meet the new Mr. and Mrs. at the enchanting Curtis Mansion.  Located in Miami Springs, this beautiful estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and truly offers the perfect setting for a romantic wedding.  We loved the stunning courtyard lit by bistro lighting.  The décor was on point – almost as sophisticated as the couple themselves.  Everything felt magical – but the true magic was apparent in the way Sandra and Jerry glanced at each other.  It was so obvious that they are madly in love!

This wedding was the last one that we shot in 2017 and was a perfect reminder as to why we do what we do.  There is no doubt that we love the art of photography – I think it’s fair to say that most photographers do!  However, it’s the moments that we capture that move us.  We feel a lot of pride in being able to deliver memories in photographs that will be cherished for generations to come.

Join us as we wish Sandra and Jerry a happily ever after!

Wedding at The Addison, Boca Raton, FL - Alyssa + Israel Alyssa and Israel are high school sweethearts that met when they were only 15 years old! Their story is a true love story that began at Coral Reef Senior High School and led them down the aisle this past weekend. Together, they are the definition of soulmates.  From the moment they met as kids, they had that connection that led to friendship and romance.  They have grown up together and motivated each other to be the amazing people they are today.  Their wedding day was years in the making and was such a beautiful beginning to the next chapter as husband and wife.  We feel so honored to have been there to capture those memories for them!

We met Alyssa and Israel back in January when they booked us for their engagement session and December wedding date.  December is among the most popular month’s to get married in South Florida so we encourage couples to book us as soon as they book their venue to ensure that we have their day available.  We only shoot one wedding per day and once we are booked we have to send the dreaded email stating that the day is no longer available.  It’s never really too soon to book us – we have already booked our first wedding for 2020! Luckily, we were available for Alyssa and Israel’s big day and what a lovely day it was!

They could not have chosen a more perfect day to say “I do”.  Their ceremony took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton followed by a gorgeous reception at The Addison.  It was a daytime wedding which was full of love, delicious food, and dancing – so much dancing!  A good time was had by all. Everything was spectacular – from the anticipation of seeing each other as they got ready early in the morning to the awesome bubble send off by their friends and family.  We hope that you enjoy this blog post as much as we enjoyed capturing every moment.  Congrats Alyssa and Israel!

Wedding at the Bonnet House - Yvette + Diego If you are reading this, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day filled with great food with your loved ones. We certainly enjoyed ours! We didn’t want November to slip away without expressing the things we are thankful for.  Gratitude is certainly a topic that comes up during this season – but it is a worthwhile topic to talk about all year long.  If you follow our blog, you may notice that we often acknowledge the relationships we genuinely feel grateful for – our friends, family, clients and colleagues.  We have learned to make gratitude part of who we are rather than just something we conjure for the holidays or solely when good things happen. There is always something to be grateful for! We are happy to share Yvette and Diego’s wedding on this blog to help highlight some of these things.

We are grateful for our clients.  First and foremost, our clients are the center of our wedding photography business. Without them, Photography by Santy Martinez would cease to exist.  We are extra thankful for clients like Yvette and Diego – happy, sweet and charismatic. We are grateful we are trusted to capture important moments for them. Our clients are simply the best!

We are grateful for our unique vantage point.  As wedding photographers, we get to witness a multitude of traditions and cultures and travel to different states, countries and continents that we had never imagined. We meet people from all over the globe and experience life in a beautiful way.  We are thankful for every second that we get to do this job and every place it takes us. Thank you, Yvette and Diego, for providing these moments on your special day.  We really enjoyed capturing your families’ traditional ceremonies and overall good time. Knowing that these photographs will be enjoyed for generations gives us purpose and for that, we are grateful!

We are grateful for the wonderful vendors we get to work with every weekend. There is so much talent that goes into every aspect of a wedding.  From DJs that keep the party going to the amazing wedding planners … we have had the pleasure to work with some of the best in the business! This wedding was no different – Yvette’s beautiful makeup application was done by the awesome Touch of Beauty by Lily and the gorgeous centerpieces were designed by Stems by Jen.  We also can’t forget the amazing staff at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale! These are just a few examples of the vendors that make a wedding day extra special and in turn, helps us create beautiful images for the couple.  We are so thankful for them!

We are grateful for our small business and the lifestyle it has allowed us to create.  It has been an amazing year.  This Fall season alone has been back to back weddings every weekend since September.  Although we may miss out on some of our own family moments on the weekends, we are thankful that our business has allowed us to control how we spend our time.  We are able to work while also being present for our children during the week which is priceless.  Protecting this lifestyle is what motivates us to always give 150% of our energy and talent at every job we do.

We are thankful for our staff and each other.  Who wouldn’t want to work day in and day out with their spouse? Ok, maybe don’t answer that! However, Santy and I actually love working with each other.  Photography was one of the first bonds that brought us together and we feel lucky to share it with each other.  We had so much fun shooting this wedding together at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale.  Witnessing romance every weekend only strengthens our own relationship and for that, we are grateful!  Additionally, the rest of our staff, from second shooters to videographers to our fabulous photo booth attendants, make going to work a blast! Thank you!

And we can go on and on…. I’ll instead leave you to a peak at Yvette and Diego’s wedding day and let the pictures speak for themselves!
